I think friendly, enthusiastically helpful tackle dealers are an asset to us all. Most ‘visitors’ just want a few ‘pointers’ so that they don’t go home disappointed. If we aren’t careful we will be left with buying all our fishing needs online. Surely nobody wants that?

And here’s the thing…….bugger all will change under Labour either. Politicians are only interested in votes not clean water. All noise and no action. Apologies to those easily politically offended.

Slightly off piste but……..This is why I have never blamed Otters for the demise of Barbel in the river Teme. In the 90’s the river was literally full of fish of all varieties with Barbel clearly seen in almost every swim. I also saw plenty of otters in the evenings without any noticeable...
Out of curiosity I googled how many people in India were killed recently by Tigers in India. Apparently 497 people were killed between 2014-2022. If you consider simply ‘attacks’ by ‘ big cats’ it must be thousands. I realise this isn’t India…….yet…..😉G.T.
I get your point but NOBODY has EVER been attacked in the UK as far as I am aware. Plus, pet dogs are taken by big cats where they exist. Again , I have never heard anyone complain that their pet had been attacked or killed….. You may have seen photo’s or reports of this?

Hi Joe,
My dog can scent a dead deer from 400yards. I imagine a fox has much more attuned instincts. I didn’t suggest predation btw, foxes will quickly strip a carcass of meat.

Just a thought……if you are thinking of a change try using two rods with different baits. You will soon see a fishy preference and that will give you confidence in it . Confidence in a bait is ‘half the battle’ in my opinion.

Well, I believe Bittern are in very localised areas and if you went there you would see or hear them. Wild ‘big cats’ have been reported all owner the country. A bit like ‘ I saw ‘Elvis’ in my chip shop last night…..🤦♂️

Hi Neil,
There have been ‘sightings’ of big cats all over the country for many years. If animals like pumas live about 12 years why haven’t any dead ones been found?

Yes, get out there Simon but take care, my ‘new’ knee has affected my balance considerably. I popped out to the ‘Lower’ a couple of days ago on a scouting trip and nearly fell in as my dodgy knees gave way as I scrambled down a steep bank. Good luck,
