    goldfish

Mark, have you tested your pond water recently? Has anything dramatic happened? Filter issues? Pump breakdowns? (always supposing you use such things). Dropsy is almost always caused by Immune system suppression, which allows pathogens which the fish's system has previously dealt with to take...

    Pellet users

synthetic astaxanthin A study carried out by EFSA to determine the dangers to humans from eating the salmonids fed on such pellets was interesting. While not exactly all revealing, it may be of some value to us as anglers. It seems that eating the salmonids which had been fed a diet of...

    Main Line

I spooled up with that line for opening night, after it was roundly recommended on another thread. I must say it behaved perfectly, limp, low diameter for given breaking strain, no coils, no tangles...and landed double figure barbel and carp. Love it. Cheers, Dave.

Burbot Neil, not indigestion :D Cheers, Dave.

    Wide gape or narrow gape

Has it not crossed any ones mind that it's all a load of cobblers? A standard hook with a standard length shank is sized by the width of the gape. So for instance, if you shorten the shank of a size 6 hook, at one time it would have been called a short shank size 6, because it now has the gape...

    What was that?

You sure it wasn't a log Neil....like in that other thread :D:D Cheers, Dave.

Long sessions - your tips for...avoiding mother nature

I quite agree Steve. Surely anglers are like the Queen...we don't do such obnoxious things...and even if we did, it wouldn't stink, and we certainly wouldn't discuss it. Whatever next I ask? We really need to get back to hugely interesting 'what bank stick' threads, which are invariably laced...

    Night Fishing

Derek, much as I love you, and though I think the head torch is quite riveting, I can imagine us having a ruck over the quality of that back pack, and I truly think that as far as that other 'thing' goes, you are completely off your trolley. :D:D:D Cheers, Dave.

    Anyone caught one yet?

Started at midnight, traditionalist fool :D Packed up at 6.00, having had one barbel of 10.10, and one carp of 14.08. Spent most of my time untangling and re-tying end gear after being snagged up time and time again. Should have moved, but rather liked where I was (Nothing to do with the rain...

    A Dopey Question

    June 16 dilemma

Reminds me of the Billy Connolly funny where he got into the wrong part of the stands in a Celtic/Rangers game. The other lot didn't beat him up, they just did a 'Big Jobby' in his shoes and made him put them back on :D Cheers, Dave.

Hatter, tell Sue the barbel down my way have taken to wearing the Luton strip and chanting 'Luton 'till I die' on the mat. That should do it :D Cheers, Dave.

    Vote for your favourite fish

Having briefly visited the site to vote, it would seem that the list has been reduced to ten fish, so you can only choose one of them. Bizarrely, that list contains sticklebacks and basking sharks, the smallest of which is not a species targeted by any angler over the age of 6, and the big...
