Cheers Bill, aye theyre a funny fish and have found them very different in fight and slime depending on the venue.
Congrats on your first tench, it has surprised me just how slow its been going all over the country, usually the south picks up way ahead of us.
Tried a new water with some very elusive tench and known for big bream, no surprise I blanked on the tinca front.
Did manage two double digure bream though, consecutive pbs at 10lb 8oz and 10lb 9oz.
Back to the more reliable tench waters from now on.
Fridays session felt perfect for it, fishing heli mag feeder, I didnt have a bite for first few hours then had a few storming bites that looked like classic tench hit and runs.
Connecting with the 3rd one after adjusting the hook length, felt like a good tench..then it started to come in a...
First tench (side quest for roach) for my Dad and I to start next friday. Focusing 90% of our efforts on the one water this time. Good luck to all the Tinca chasers for 2023 👍
Can't it be all three, not really mutually exclusive of each other are they?
The need to neatly categorize things has always amused me.
Angling in its many forms is quite simply too unique and full of nuance to simplify as a sport/hobbie.
It's a way of life 😁
I use the bank tackle wide gapes in 10s but I find they are a bit big for 10mm baits, perfect for 12mm boilies though.
My go to pellet hook is now the owner c5x in 10 or 12, very strong but slightly smaller pattern than bank. Available on ebay
I find it varies day to day, river to river swim to swim. No hard rule to follow just react to your environment 👍
I always start a session with a single hookbait/ no freebies and go from there.
Nidd today
First time on the Nidd since I was a kid, knaresborough circa 1998.
Looks perfect. Will give it half a day on barbel rods then move onto float if no signs 🤞😁👍
@Mike Thompson that bloody irrigator alarm, nearly fell out me chair 🤣
