Hi or Lo
Hi Patrick and a most warm welcome to the Forum where you will find much useful advice. However, if you need to ask a question as you have done then you are in need of some coaching in the art of barbel fishing. It might sound harsh advice but you need to consider the conditions on the...
Belachan
Hi Tom, The block stuff that I have is made or imported by Jeeny's. I've never seen the powdered version. I'll enquire if my local Chinese supermarket can source it. As soon as a product has a fishing label attached, you can be assured that a massive price hike will be involved. I've...
I was under that impression that the powdered stuff was much more potent than the block. However the block is better than nothing. If and when Tom runs out, at least the block is an option.
Belachan
My local Far Eastern stockist has Belachan at £1.90 per 250g block. If Tom runs out of supplies, then I wouldn't mind helping out. Bear in mind that the postage for the block is not trivial. Additionally, it is not powdered as Tom's stuff and would need grating.
I believe that the tide will eventually turn on the otter situation. If otters are left unchecked then the larger fish stocks will eventually disappear, to all intents and purposes. Small stuff will survive and eventually grow on. But meanwhile otters will end up starving and may well end up in...
Matt gave a good example below of a small business knowing him personally and that relationship leads to great service. The problem with dealing with a large organisation like Climax is twofold. The guy you get hold of will in all probability will be on minimum wage and is not empowered to make...
But you can use the same argument with wolves. There are nutters out there who would like to see these reintroduced. I agree with Tone, things have moved on and the otter declined. Reintroductions have thrown the whole predator/prey relationship up in the air.
Good Service
Just a quick thumbs up for BobCo. By sheer chance spoke to the owner over an issue sometime back. He was absolutely great and sent me a voucher which he had no need to do. Previously, I had spoken to staff and got nowhere which confirms that it is a question of getting hold of the...
That's simply ridiculous. I have never seen a seal in a tree. In a circus yes or in one of those aquariums. Penguins keep their eggs between their feet and don't build nests. Why do you think that seals are any different?
If the guy is bankrupt, over the otter issue, how can the fishery owner afford this sort of litigation? Hope he wins - we should contribute to his fighting fund. The otter fraternity need to be aware of their reckless behaviour, be prepared to put their hands in their pockets and be prepared to...
I agree. The problem is that there is an over-population of them. This is an issue in many countries and especially Canada. If there were a lack of sea food this should automatically regulate numbers. To sustain ever increasing numbers would infer listening to the wise words of the cormorants...
I really have to congratulate Richard Hamlyn, Paul Boyle and Steve Williams for some excellent posts. I really enjoyed them and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. Best posts for ages. Keep it up and I might be tempted to come out of retirement.
I'm with Jon Frisby on this one and I signed it too. Going by memory, if something like 90,000 signatures are collected it has to be discussed/debated in Parliament. I think that the last e-petition to hit this mark was the revolt in connection with the increase in fuel duty. I suspect that any...
No doubt Aldi have gone upmarket to pull in a wider range of punter. Their best wines are not a giveaway, but are good and typically a couple of quid below the major supermarket brands. Before Xmas, Tesco were doing Villa Maria at £6 a bottle which was cheap and then applying a 25% discount. So...
I don't use Aldi or Lidl if I can posibly help it for obvious reasons. I did send our cleaner along to Aldi to collect a Sancerre and Pouilly Fume which were quite acceptable. Didn't much care for their £22 claret though. Missed out on the Lidl wonder whisky at £40 a bottle, apparently...
