    How to describe fishing line?

I think once you know what brand of line you're going to buy (and I think most of us are loyal to a couple of brands that we like) then the b/s is more useful than knowing the diameter (and easier to remember as it's constant). The diameter is only really useful I think when comparing different...

Hi Pete, only just seen this. About bloodly time you finally joined. Now what's all this about falling in the river (like you've never fallen in anywhere before)?

    rucksack quest

Not sure if they still make these (I think they've been replaced with an updated version that I'm not sure is as good) but these are a fantastic piece of kit (if a little pricey) and used by a few of the WBC brethren Aqua 75 Litre Rucksack Rucksacks and Barrow Bags - Buy, Sell, Part Exchange...

Lightweight, breathable but most of all WATERPROOF!

Another thumbs up from me on Dutch army Goretex, way better than any of the others for overtrousers. I always used Transworld Surplus Ltd when I was in the UK. Just call them up, they were always very helpful and usually have more than they show on their website.

paul4, thank you for seeing my point and putting it somewhat better and more diplomatically than I did :)

    mosquito repellant

Hmm yes I agree nearly every subject has been done before, so let me rephrase what I said. I suggest you do a search because this subject came up less that 6 weeks ago, I'd be amazed if anything new has happened in the mosquito repellent industry in that time and some people took the time to...

    midgie spray

With all the mozzie sprays look for the active ingredient. You want either DEET or Picaridin. Both are equally effective. DEET lasts a bit longer per application but smells vile and will eat plastics. Picaridin is a bit of a funny one as when it starts to wear off it actually starts to attract...

    River Trent Stafford

Upper/middle Warks Avon. You could also try the water on the right bank above the Iron Bridge on the Severn, excellent float water. Don't know who owns that now but it used to be Rod and Gun with tickets on the bank. I'm sure one of the local guys though will be able to confirm that.

Kicked out for catching too many!

I have to agree with Graham, if you join a match fishing club then you join it for the competition. If you don't want to compete or you're not good enough then don't join the club, kicking out the best angler because he's too successful is ridiculous. Why should the better anglers have to move...

    New bivvy????

I have an original cyfish and they're very good. Standard kit for WBC though is the JRC Steath, great for overnighters and have done a trip to France in one with temps below 0 at night.

    Supporting local tackle shops

Castaways iin Banbury, that was the place I was trying to think of where I finally got the rod that Marsh Tackle wouldn't order for me. Have used J&K as well, excellent. When I was still in High Wycombe I always used to travel over to Maidenhead Bait & Tackle in Cookham who were always...
