I started trundling in the early 80's, with lob worm on the Severn. I was frustrated being unable to cast a more or less unweighted worm across to the far side, and eventually (after talking to a guy in Fenwick's, in Wolves...remember them!) ended up building myself a rod on a fly fishing blank...
Well I reckon the only way the Teme (being an SSSI) will get any 'new' barbel swimming in it are from the small amount of small fish stocked over the last few years into the Severn between Bewdley and Shrewsbury. They'd have to migrate downstream to below Worcester though, then enter the Teme...
Weed can be an issue at Duddy, but the weed is mostly on the field/popular/sunny side. I'll only fish for tench via the 'lift method' (ledger caught fish don't count imo :p ) so I find weed to be less of a problem. Their stretch of the Avon is ok for 5lb+ snotties, and zander, but not really a...
The only time I've had a problem with a VSS is also with a Lewtham (Quest) reel. I think the 'problem' is with Letham's very thick reel seats, but an angle grinder can soon sort that out 👍 🤯
I reckon you'll need to specify which mode/model/iteration of JW Avon quiver George .... unless the "boxed" version is something quite specific. I've got 2 very old (green) Masterline JW Avon/Quiver rods that I've not used for 20yrs+. It's the postage that's stopped me getting rid of them.
I hope 'my' rivers (Severn & Teme especially), and all 'your' rivers, have a better and cleaner time of it in 2025 than they did in 2024.
All the very best to you all.
Dunno Rich ...it's seems a bit of an oddball really. It seems to be highly rated by US bass fishermen and the only negative comment I've found is from one reviewer who said it was 'a bit stretchy', which could lead you to believe that it's most probably not a pre-stretched mono. But maybe that...
Has anyone on here had any experience of using this line (as sold by Pallatrax). I'm interested in the abrasion resistance vs limpness/softness perspective, as most/all lines with high abrasion resistance tend to be quite 'springy'.
HAPPY CHRISTMAS, ONE & ALL!!
A pair of brand new Korum 2.5lb/12ft rods, for use in the mud pits, delivered today ....for £90 all in :p 👍
(Thanks to info from Dave Mez ... c'mon, join us on BFW!!)
N.b...they're slimmer than the photos look (not a la F/S Hi-S!) but they DO feel well beefy. We'll see eh.
I'm thinking of getting a pair of these rods for when there's 3-5m of extra water on the Lower Severn, I'm over my ankles in mud, and 4-6oz may be necessary to hold bottom. Any thoughts on these?? I've never even handled any Korum rod so, to anyone that owns one of these rods ... how wide is the...
Hi All, I've had a pair of these put aside for selling next close season (when the market's better), but if there's any fully paid up member on here that's thinking about buying themselves a pair for Xmas .... they'll know that you can't buy a pair new for under £730. Plus you'll know that...
