Is that where we get the expression "Meat rack" about fashion shows and beauty parades/contests? 😂

Agree Neil, I had one ...ran line through it, cast it down my garden, towed a 2oz weight through ~30m of long-ish grass (I reckon you can find a fair bit out about a rod's action/feel under pressure by doing this) ... then gave it away to a mate who fancied a go at Severn barbel. Horrible...

    Tench 2023

Looks crossed with a crucian, that one mate. Well done. 👍 (is that grammatical? 🤔)

    It’s back !!

All I'm really saying mate is .... if I'm starving and all I've got in the house is some 'cooking' cheese and a bit of onion that's seen better days, I'll wolf down a cheese 'n onion butty. But if I'm faced with a posh buffet after having had a pie 'n a pint earlier I'll be choosy and go for a...

    It’s back !!

I think there's some truth in what you both (Terry/Damian) say, but above line is (IMO) the, 'killer' statement. I believe that the situation in 'unpressurized' (lightlly/moderately fished) rivers is different than in pressurized pools/lakes where plenty of foodstuffs are fed in. The fish are...

Page upon page waxing lyrical over Yorkshire puddings??????? Mmmmm, I guess it must be 'Close season on BFW'. What a fabulous site this truly is! ❤️

    Palltrax Whisker Sticks .... waaah???

Just been having a trawl through my bait fridge and found an unopened pack of shelf-life Palltrax Whisker Sticks (Elixir 6) Can't remember when I bought them but it must have been many years ago, and bag's unopened so I know I've never used them. Anyone had any experience with these?? (I...

Inarguable (IMO) ......and as an aside, I would argue that the Warburtons the baker is the John Baker of the 'traditional' bait user. 😉

    It’s back !!

I tend to agree with you @David Craine but I'd add that we all know (I think) that fish can get preoccupied with a bait, especially a particle bait (e.g. maggots, casters, bloodworms, corn) ... after they've eaten some without any negative consequences (e.g. getting a hook in their mouth). They...

    Tench 2023

I've been working on making the perfect rig to give me the perfect lift method bite. Main problem has been getting consistent, smooth and accurate casts in a strong cross-wind with a 12ft rod into ~8ft of water, which necessitated the length of line between float to hook being 8.5ft+. 4th sesh...

    It’s back !!

Hi @Mike Thompson, if you're flavouring meat then just put a couple of drops of flavour into a plastic bag and then rub the bag between your hands to smear the flavour all over the inner surface of the bag. Then cut your meat up into the size(s) you're going to use on the hook (plus any leftover...

    It’s back !!

So here's one 'for the mix' ... on several occasions over the years I've come across a bait (well, a flavour of boilie) that's appeared to work better than others (I don't believe in 'super-baits', just some that might do better than others). After catching on the bait I've then take the...

    Clear main lines

It's a poser really. If you watch the videos of barbel spooking off line that they brush against that they were previously unaware of, you'd be led to believe that it's best to use highly conspicuous line. Personally I don't see it as an issue ...but if/when I do want to try to 'hide' my line, I...

    fishing around Highley

Get a Birmingham Anglers Association card @Trevor Summerfield and you'll have miles of water downstream too....and many, many elsewhere. Burt's can get very busy. Loads of cover upstream of Burt's.

    Low stretch mono

The only 'low stretch' line I've used as a main line is Drennan Double Strength (7lb@0.20mm) for chub fishing small rivers/streams but I binned it after a few sessions. It's "low stretch" as it's pre-stretched, so snap-offs are much more likely. Maybe it would be ok to use for distance fishing...

Trefor west landing net pole on ebay

Whenever I've not had a Harrison blank to hand I've used a trusty Trevor West landing net pole as a line-prop, when blankets needed drying 😂

John Wilson Masterline 11ft twin tip Avon/Quiver

Hi y'all ... I've decided to thin my rod collection down a bit as there's some rods that I've hardly ever used/not used for years. I'll be selling a Nash Tri-tip (as I've got 5!!), a pair of F/S Hi-S BW (only seen 4hrs on the bank as I've stopped fishing the Lower) and a J.W Avon. Unfortunately...
