Only difference to the untrained naked eye is the speci hook on the left has a slightly inturned eye, otherwise almost identical Id say......
Thanks

Hi Jim,
The specibeaked are terrible hooks, really weak and the eyes open up quite easily.
I meant the original specimen hooks in sizes 12-16.
The new barbel hooks look very similar however I've not had them next to each other to have a look as nowhere near me stocks them.
I should have been...
Not the specimen range, they aren't very good IMO, weak wire and the guage is finer and the eyes are a bit off. I tested them a few years ago and didn't like them.
It's the new Barbel Specimen Hooks that are the same as the Talon Tips I'm told.
Thanks
Lewis
That they are and mostly pre stretched aswell to reduce the diameter and maintain the strength.
Lewis Read had a huge input into all Gardner lines for many years, no surprise TA are now going down the Copolymer route now he works for them.

I've used Gardner Pro Blend light for 10 years in 12lb and 15lb breaking strain, it's never ever let me down.
Had carp to almost 50lb on the 15lb and countless barbel on both 12 and 15 on a number of different rivers in all conditions.
By far the best line I've ever used and unless something...
Mines a combination of a couple of flavours and an additive as recommended by John.
3 chub today on a short 2 hour session so at least I know something will eat it 🤣
Thanks

I always liked to make my baits irregular so to speak. Felt it gives me more options plus the cigar shapes means I can break off different sizes and have a soft centre that offers more attraction. While still having a crust that will enable me to hair rig.
Plan on using single hookbaits and...
Evening gents,
After many many years of not making my own bait I've decided to have a dabble again.
I used to use a lot of milk protein based baits 15 or so years ago so I've decided to have a go again.
Some of JB's supermilk turned up the other day with a couple of flavours and an additive...
Done 👍
Been a member for the best part of 20 odd years....where the hell that time has gone is beyond me!
Don't contribute as much as I used to but then I don't fish as much as I used to either. (been around long enough to remember being part of the 'original' forum)
Nice to be able to drop...
I was fishing in bewdley at the weekend (Saturday)
No foot or road access to the bridge at all. It was a bit of a pain as wanted to go to the Mug House pub for a pint after fishing but couldn't get to it 🙈🤣
We came from the Kidderminster side and couldnt cross the river. Stourport the nearest...

I've just retired my Nash ultra light after 13 years of use! Replaced with a trakker levelite transformer.
Has clips to hold the chair together in transit, solid attachments for an over the shoulder carry strap, is a little over 4kg in weight, front adjustable mudfeet and is COMFY! Almost too...
Morning Gents,
First session of the year weekend just gone. Arrived just after first light to see only 2 anglers on so plenty of swim choice. Had a walk around and settled on a swim with the idea to bait very lightly and fish method feeders. The venue is only 3 acres and averages 4-5 feet deep...
