    OMC magic twig

£60 isn’t even expensive for a sweatshirt in the normal world, so I’m not sure where the ’carp tax’ comes in there. What I don’t really get at the moment is the multitude of fisheries banning it based on fish safety. I get why, but I’ll explain further….I’ve done a fair bit of carp fishing...

    Boilies.

Been using it for 3 seasons and got total confidence, I’ve started mixing it with DNA Bug too as I like the sustainability element of that.

    Night fishing tidal trent.

That opposite Gunthorpe bank is very dicey. It’s a long walk from the road, and theres an almost vertical cliff face behind - a couple of seasons ago a lad posted a photo of a big landslide that just missed his bivvy.

    Three piece barbel rods

Sounds like Nash etc are missing a trick here, a part telescopic specialist range like the Scope carp rods (which are tremendously popular) would surely sell really well. Easy to hide in the motor etc for short after work sessions, easier to get through overgrown swims.

    New reel recommendations

I have some Carp rods setup with them on as well, hence the 6 now!

    New reel recommendations

Okuma inception 6000’s for me, they don’t have a baitrunner but the quid drag is perfect out of the box. Wide metal lipped spool, metal line clip, light, smooth, good retrieve. I bought a couple to try after a load of recommendations from the carp boys using them on lighter setups, and two...

    Temu

Didn’t order any fishing gear but bought a pair of combat shorts, 4 silicone egg poachers and 2 tin pizza signs for £10 including delivery 😄

    First Barbel.....not a bad start!

Now he’s got years of disappointment to look forward to when his PB stays the same year after year 😄 I kind of know the feeling, wasn’t as big as that but I caught my PB on my second ever Barbel session and haven’t got within 2lb of it since!

    Night fishing tidal trent.

Bobs gets a bad rep at times (and admittedly it’s not always the most peaceful place, midweek and later in the season is much better) but the owners and bailiffs have put a lot of work into it over the last couple of years. You now have to phone for the code for the gate as well. I went with a...

    Float rod for Trent barbel

Free Spirit 15’ Tamer Power is well worth a look. I use one for the tidal, easy to handle and has plenty of backbone. It’s not as light as an Acolyte for instance but it feels well balanced.

    Night fishing tidal trent.

Collingham ending night fishing on day tickets has caused a massive push onto club and syndicate waiting lists, and most of them have changed entry and vetting processes as well. Ashfield waiting list is 3,000+ now and BS Sutton or Normanton is a couple of years. Day tickets are going to become...

    Pellet size.

It is, and the other extracts etc in it are from sustainable sources too. It also smells like chocolate malt, which is nothing like you expect it to!

    Pellet size.

I like using DNA Bug for that reason as it’s made with sustainable insect meal. It’s a good bait too, I had a double within 3 hours of the season starting last year so that gave me the confidence to switch to it!

    Korda kaptor curve shank

I use them a lot in a 10 on the tidal Trent and have few issues with the points turning over. Tremendous hook holds so flatten down the barbs, especially if you’re unhooking Bream in the edge as you’ll need forceps a lot otherwise. Even if the points go they’ve been on offer for £1.50 a pack...

    Reels

I replaced my Baitrunners, SS2600’s and Emblems with Okuma Inception 6000’s, which I think are unreal value for money. I now use them on both sets of Barbel rods and my Carp and pike setups. I’ve got various smaller reels for float, feeder and lure fishing though.

    Ticket price increase.

That’s not even massive for a Carp lake these days. Some charge £100 just to go on a waiting list! I can see clubs with stretches of river increasing their prices regularly, simply due to demand. Look at the Trent. As day tickets stretches get more sparse, clubs have ever longer waiting lists...

    global warming

We are. Earlier in the thread someone claimed that climate change was being used to control us. The government don’t need an excuse for that, they’re doing it anyway.

    global warming

I haven’t forgotten at all. As I’ve mentioned already, it‘s the unprecedented pace of climate change that is down to humans, and largely Co2 production. It’s not in doubt and not argued by anyone credible - it’s our fault. You’re absolutely right with the pollution part, which is exactly what...

    global warming

They can’t in this situation though, because denial of man-made climate change isn’t in any way a ‘truth’. There’s decades and a mountain of research and evidence to prove its happening. I’m not a zealot in any way and it’s a bit strange to suggest anyone agreeing with the proven facts is one...

    global warming

GB news isn’t a credible news source. Its a right wing conspiracy-prone load of nonsense, convincing it‘s very small amount of viewers that everyone is else is a sheep and they’re the enlightened ones. Ironic that it’s everyone else that’s being ‘controlled’…. That’s the thing though. The...
