Yes,I've stopped fishing for them until conditions improve.I had a short session on the middle trent yesterday and saw 2 barbel float past me belly up.I also spoke to a fellow angler who had caught one earlier and it had taken an hour to recover before he was able to release it.He was fishing...
Not quite your specifications but if you're prepared to go to a 10' rod have a look at the Nash scope. They do a 1.75 and 2.25 TC.I've gone even shorter with a 9' 2.25 for the tight swims and have been impressed with it.
I
I've been using braid hook lengths for years now and have caught hundreds of Trent barbel with it,none of them has suffered mouth damage or any other damage. If it had caused any damage whatsoever I wouldn't still be using it after all this time.Don't have a problem with tangles either when...
Yes,you read my mind-6 and 8lb braid is too light for barbel. The diameter of braid is so small that there is not much difference between using 6 or 8lb and 10 or 12lbs.They're not tackle shy and I don't think it will make any difference if you use 12lbs tbh and if you did hook into one of the...
Mine too,the cam part cracked which allowed the landing net to slide off into the river,I then realised why it was called a quick release adapter.:(
I returned it and bought the pro logic job which is a far better design and has performed well this season.
ESP sinklink is a good supple braid and very similar to the Drennan, they are the same company after all.
I have also used drennan sink braid for years and as stocks have dried up have now moved on to gardner trickster heavy which I can recommend. It is supple, strong, sinks and knots well.
3 years old in very good clean condition.£40 collection only from Mansfield,pm me your email address for pictures.

I know it's a long shot as they have been discontinued for a while but if anyone has some size 10's(barbed)in a dusty corner I will gladly buy them from you.
I've just bought a Fox chunk hydro jacket...............

Very impressed with the quality although it hasn't had a proper test in the rain yet. It's got good waterproof and breathable ratings and the XL is a loose fit for...
Looks decent for the price.
I'm using one of these that clips onto a cap peak

It has an adjustable beam zoom, adjustable angle for...
Hook Report
After all the recommendations this hook gets on here I thought I had better try them out and did so for the first time today.I arrived on the banks of the Trent at 12.30pm and had a 5 hour session just into dark. The river was low and clear so I fished a single hair rigged 8mm...
I think you mean Specimen Plus Darren, they do look like a good hook, quite an unusual bend but Drennan do say they are mechanically strong.

Me too,I agree entirely but still use a bite alarm on the river.I have a couple of Fox micron mx+ alarms which are excellent and reasonably priced.
I have the volume turned to very low so anyone else would struggle to hear it,it also has a toggle on/off switch for when you are setting it up...
I think the Guru specialist gripper feeder would be more suitable for barbel fishing on fast flowing rivers.

Guru are quite innovative and make some decent products even though are probably biased more towards...
The Gardner barbel/specialist pan net is my weapon of choice.

I carry two made up 12' rods and have been using a Daiwa mission holdall since the start of the season.

The extra neoprene handles make it easy to get in and out of the car, can't fault it so far.
