    Deadbait rods for Zander .

I use my trusty Drennan Power Barbel rods down the Lower 7RN....been fine up to now and as they've coped well with flood water Barbel in the past, I fancy they'll be fine for the Z'ds too? Might be a bit of fun if a big old river Pike decides it wants a scrap though !?!? Paul

    Zander

Good stuff again Steve....I'm still after a Perch or two but will be switching onto Lucioperca come the start of the colder weather....Eels :(

    More Hooks!

Mate, If I read the first post properly, 40 hooks for a fiver in sizes 2, 4, 6 & 8? These are just the sizes I use to cover most of my fishing, so that's what I'm looking for. Paul

    Zander

Lee, I've caught them in all sorts of conditions....from low and clear to up and coloured but I prefer fishing for them in a bit of coloured water or at first and last light. They have superior eyesight to most, if not all other coarse fish and take full advantage by hunting in low light...

    Zander

Scubes, Trotting a live/dead can be a deadly method....lends itself well to boat fishing and not so well when fishing from terra firma. You'll catch well on the method off the back of Yam Yam as you can cover so much water on each trot through.

    More Hooks!

    Tom, Any left? Paul

    Zander

Lee, As Scuba alluded to, I'm one of the "hit every knock" brigade fishing my rod(s) at a steep angle (Barbel style) with the bait runners off and keeping my eyes glued to the rod tops. I normally fish short 5-6 hour sessions around the afternoon into dusk period so I can maintain the...

    Recipe for paste

Old one courtesy of Scuba Steve... 2 cans of Spam grated into a bowl of bovril and brown crumb to bind into paste....gives off a good flavour stream and when prepared properly will stay on the hook well. Also stays "fresh" for some time so a decent amount can be prepared in advance :) Paul

    chaffing bad

"Manrub"....Been an issue for years :( Always feel a bit dirty rubbing vaseline around the affected spots in the car park before setting off for a day at the river too....? Paul

    Culling illegally stocked predators ?

I suppose the question is....did you kill it as an alien species?? Paul

    Culling illegally stocked predators ?

Nobody ever mentions the fact that Rainbow Trout and of course Carp are introduced species to the UK....too much moola involved in both species to organise a cull I'd imagine? Paul

    Culling illegally stocked predators ?

I've long fished for Zander and enjoyed every one caught....but as you say, they should be culled to protect our native silver fish stocks and as such I will be killing all Zander caught from now on.... ....I...
