I use my trusty Drennan Power Barbel rods down the Lower 7RN....been fine up to now and as they've coped well with flood water Barbel in the past, I fancy they'll be fine for the Z'ds too?
Might be a bit of fun if a big old river Pike decides it wants a scrap though !?!?

If I read the first post properly, 40 hooks for a fiver in sizes 2, 4, 6 & 8? These are just the sizes I use to cover most of my fishing, so that's what I'm looking for.

I've caught them in all sorts of conditions....from low and clear to up and coloured but I prefer fishing for them in a bit of coloured water or at first and last light. They have superior eyesight to most, if not all other coarse fish and take full advantage by hunting in low light...

Trotting a live/dead can be a deadly method....lends itself well to boat fishing and not so well when fishing from terra firma. You'll catch well on the method off the back of Yam Yam as you can cover so much water on each trot through.

2 cans of Spam grated into a bowl of bovril and brown crumb to bind into paste....gives off a good flavour stream and when prepared properly will stay on the hook well.
Also stays "fresh" for some time so a decent amount can be prepared in advance :)

Nobody ever mentions the fact that Rainbow Trout and of course Carp are introduced species to the UK....too much moola involved in both species to organise a cull I'd imagine?

I've long fished for Zander and enjoyed every one caught....but as you say, they should be culled to protect our native silver fish stocks and as such I will be killing all Zander caught from now on....
