    Lightweight umbrella

Golfing brollies are great for the job for stalking and short sessions. I used to be a hard core goretex/poncho chap but got fed up of wet kit and tying pva in the rain. Helps to have a brolly to shelter your camera too of you do self takes in the rain. I eventually invested in a Fox...

    Supposed Ray Walton claim??

Interesting topic, one that came up in conversation the other day actually: a friend and I were talking about recaptures, especially that Nene fish that keeps coming out for a photograph, and it was said that fish get recaptured regularly due to some kind of brain damage as a result, thus...

Is it me? Is it real?

Proper evidence as in the ones that have been found dead and shot, fur that has been found and analysed and people admitting to releasing them?

Is it me? Is it real?

Another one that springs to mind is a chap landed a nice Ouse double one evening and his angling partner took the obligatory trophy shot. In the background, on the opposite bank, the camera flash reflected the eyeshine of a big pair of yellow eyes, quite wide apart. The next morning, a black...

Is it me? Is it real?

How about the one that was shot down south, and the rotten remains of one found in Scotland? There's quite a lot of evidence out there to prove there's the odd one knocking about. Why are people so hell bent on suggesting otherwise??

    Great Ouse Bedford

All of the Vauxhall stretches hold barbel, some of them very big. If he's prepared to put the hours in then he'll do ok, don't expect a fish every cast though.

    dog spike for fishermen

Got mine from Halfords in the camping section, was only a few quid and really useful.

Back after a very long break

But Nick, there's no barbel left in the Ouse, everyone keeps telling me that, why on earth would you do such a thing?! ;)

Long sessions - your tips for...avoiding mother nature

They left another package on the corner by the causeway access too, far from discreet. We're all keeping a watchful eye and I'm relishing the chance to present him his torn up membership book to use as loo roll at home.

    Kings weir fishery

I fished last season, taking advantage of the offer to fish the members section for 12 hours a day for the price of a key. The weir itself still has the day ticket rates and times though. A wonderful venue at a bargain price. I really don't mind what others do whether they're members or...

Long sessions - your tips for...avoiding mother nature

Don't do it in the bush, its disgusting. Take a bucket and black bag, do your job, tie the bag, twist it and tie it again. Dispose of when you get home. Better than stomach cramps and tearing your ring when it is finally time to part company. There's a phantom pooper on the venue I bailiff at...

    June 16

Aiming for a midnight start on the 16th on the Ouse but it might be a case of late afternoon on the 16th and fish through until the next day, need to see how negotiations go.

    hooklink material advise

Prologic mimicry for me, with a short 2" combi of soft braid at the hook end. I like the Gardner stuff too, never let me down.

    Barrow

I went all out and got one of the tf gear juggernauts. Superb bit of kit, the three chunky wheels are ideal for long hauls with the overnight kit on rough banks. No need for lifting just push it along. It is very heavy though, which is good as it's very well made, but folds away fairly well.

    fishing chair recommendation

Check out the Advanta memory foam chair that Angling Direct do. I've got one and it is very comfy indeed, not a recliner but not what I required. Highly recommended!

    brolly or shelter

The Fox specialist brolly really is fantastic! I got one myself after an autumn getting tired of trying to tie pva sticks in the rain and my rucksack contents getting damp. It's light enough to carry on long walks, fits in to most quivers and with a couple of banksticks attached to the storm...

    Fishing licence renewal online

I thought the receipt only lasted 28 days? Last year took 7 weeks and 2 attempts. Went to the post office on Saturday and did it the old fashioned way so hopefully it'll arrive!

    Fitting a screw seat

That's great thank you Bob. I did consider a bit of black tape as a temporary bodge but would like to make bit of a project out of it, classic rod and it's perfect for chub!
