Robert, If you check back a couple of pages, this was a question i asked recently. I havent tried some of the hooks mentioned yet as i seem to be getting on okay with kamasan barbless 911s in a 14, but also have some 520s to try, which are even finer in the wire. Others with much more Roach...

Chris, they seem to like everything. ;) But, i am looking forward to a nice cray salad and glass of red very soon. :D Gonna stick with Malmesbury area for time being as i already have a few places to investigate and it is so convenient. :) Paul

Neil, above cowbridge is on my radar (courtesy of pm already received). I had a chance to fish the bit at cowbridge down from the weir to the bridge a few years ago, but let it go at the time and i dont think it has fished well in recent years. I may have a look above the weir after work friday...

    Rod Opinions Please.......

Hi Martyn, Got 2 series 7 rods (12ft carp waggler and 10ft carp feeder) and i really think they are the dogs for the money. I havent got the series 7 1.25lb specialist, but two friends have and they swear by them. Perfect chub rods in my opinion. The new Rovex JWs are okay for chub and...

Stuart, Absolutely right mate, had one small one last week that i forgot about, but i havent seen them in numbers. :o Had another go last night, for an exact repeat of tuesdays nights efforts. 1 trout and another 1lb roach, plus 4 crays (cooked and in the fridge). :D Not ideal conditions...

    pop-up boilies

Have used them, they work, but havent found need to use them that often. Find that the flow doesnt really impact on bouyancy of pop ups much at all as the flow is often more pacy on top than it is on the deck on the deeper rivers i fish. Maybe more of a problem on fast flowing shallow rivers.

Thanks Chris, i always seem to take the easy option when perhaps i should try the float, just not confident with one on shallow water and i know its a chink in my armour. Those hooks look nice mate, i think i may even have some from a previous life. ;) Have not tried the cheese and there are no...

Thanks Chris, will see if i can get some in Hinders or Cotswold Angling, i'm sure they both do some of the gamakatsu range. Mind you, the B911s are okay in the meantime. Has the drennan sedge hook changed name to the stimulator sedge? as the old drennan sedge hooks seem a bit thin on the ground...

Chris, some v v good redfins in there, but also lots of crays and trout. Find it too shallow and slow to trot most of the time, so happier on the tip. The roach can feed throughout the day, but the trout have hogged the action until after dark on the last 2 trips. I'm being optimistic after...

Stuart, That is the area i'm concentrating on at the moment, one or two evenings after work. Just waiting for the big 2s to show up. Also upstream of 'the well' shortly i hope and have been searching up nr pinkney as well. Dont know the area really, just finding my feet and have two fishing...

Nice way to fish for em Steve, havent trotted a float for roach for about 30 years. I'm fishing in around 18" - 36" of water on the upper bristol avon, so i find it easier to fish the tip, but having fished for barbel for so long, i keep expecting a three foot twitch and it just doesnt happen. ;)

The brown trout and signal crayfish really love the B911s. Had a couple of redfins to just over a 1lb, but not many roach about last night.:( Paul

Cheers Si, Will see if i can get hold of some sedge hooks online as i cant get them locally. Back down the river tonight with some B911s, as that is all i could get yesterday, will see how they perform. :) Paul

Hi all, I dont consider myself a roach angler by any means, but i have started targeting them again recently. Ive had fish to 2lbs in the past, but am looking to get into some more good quality fish. I lost a beast last night whilst fishing flake and mashed bread on the tip on a size 10...

    Rudd

Brian, There is a waiting list for members (bearing in mind it is a carp fishery) and it's over £500 p.a. Not sure what is happening to the tincas, but i will try to find out. I think the EA are relocating them. Paul
  19. Paul Hiom

What kind of duck is this?

Also looks like a female mandarin? Not sure!

    Rudd

No worries Chris, All joking aside, there are some very big tincas left in there, although i think Gary Newman and Simon Pomeroy have emptied most of the smaller fish out judging from reports. ;) Will call again later. Paul
