Terrific post, Dave, incisive and spot-on.

    drennan 13ft tench float rod

Good to hear from you Dave. Lot of sense in your comment and that's not to mention the latest Dyson that she probably wants, still who are we rob them of their indulgences?

Is Barbel fishing on the decline?

Can someone explain to me why Cormorants don't eat Dace and Trout? Possibly because both of those species are mighty quick swimmers and it will be the slower swimming species that get nailed

Government gives go ahead for New Cormorant and Goosander Management Plan

Some good stuff posted. At lease cormorants are now on the radar and that can only be a step in the right direction. Shooting is a sticking plaster. Numbers need to be controlled at source by oiling their eggs. Those members of the public who are a bit prissy about shooting would be less excited...

    Otters & Mousey

I haven't posted for sometime but feel driven to do so, to mourn the plight of those poor little otter cubs. Thank goodness some have been saved from the floods but just how many poor little souls have perished? Which brings me on to poor mousey, a tragic story but one which I feel compelled to...

    alternative net handle suggestion

In the past I have wondered why push together landing net sections don't seem to be prone to pulling apart. I think that the answer is that as soon as there is any sort of bend in the handle, it effectively locks the joints. The sections only pull apart when there is no tension in the handle.

    Xmas Present

Here's an interesting one. What item of fishing kit will you be asking Santa to bring? Would it be say a real, some terminal tackle or maybe a pole or some comfy boots. Any advice on boots would be most welcome and should I ask for a size bigger or smaller than my normal size. Also which soul...

    Garlic spam at sainsburys

Freshly Clicked or whatever Why not order on the supermarket internet site? If you order £40 worth you can probably use the £15 voucher (1st order only) that constantly spews out of the self service tills. It only needs a couple of sad anglers to make the deal worth doing. You don't need to...

Daiwa whisker kevlar pike rod wks-612ef

It was generous of you to offer the rod to BFW members at a discount price. It will be interesting to see what the final price will be. I was tempted but dared not to introduce another rod to my household.

    Life Jacket

Buoyancy aids Not a bad idea to keep out of danger, especially in winter, loads of clothing, slippery banks, fast cold running water, bah. Stay at home and let the fish and the EEs get on with it. Just seen that the EEs are raping the countryside of mushrooms now - they must need these as a...

    Poachers & Cormorants

It is strange how topics evolve. In response to Chris' comments, I would consider myself a forward thinking individual. What has ruined this country are things like gay marriages, and shed loads of immigrants none of which can speak English apart from asking directions to the Benefits Office...

    Poachers & Cormorants

Just come back from a week by the side of Lake Maggiore, Italy. Apparently very good fishing and I saw loads of what looked like decent chub and loads of baitfish. The Italians guard their fishing and it is very hard and expensive to get a fishing licence. What I did discover is that any illegal...

    Tackle Theft

I have had some dealings with Neil in the past. I can pretty well guarantee that Neil did not mean to offend. I believe that Neil was making a quip about his standing in the fishing World. Without a shadow of doubt Neil, like the rest of us on here, find this sort of theft disgusting...

    Elips pellet - preferred stockists

I've tried that Aldi tuna stuff. I suggest that you would improve your sandwich by swopping the tuna with the "no name" low oil trout pellets.
