If I was going I'd probably fish the waggler and spray maggots. Same as most commercials, the silvers will move in first and then hopefully the carp. Always a chance of a big roach or even a big perch but they do get targetted so you're probably best doing the above if you want to get bites on...
An old bailiff on my club ticket used to catch a load of barbel on broad beans. They'll try anything once, reckon if you hair rigged a whole Cadbury's cream egg...if its in the right place at the right time ...wallop !! :D

I quite enjoy the close season, well the first couple of weeks anyway.
Allows you time to reflect, take stock and draw a line under the previous seasons graft.
It's almost a relief to stop thinking constantly about fishing and stop studying every weather forecast like it's the last...
