Bait dropper on a light set up

I have one like these, not from Ebay though, I got it from a proper tackle shop. It's a pretty universal design and it's fairly light, there's not much to go wrong really except the hinge, and it seems fine on mine. You can also get a small size like this one, though I haven't seen one in a...

Paul Garner, Barbel fishing on Hampton Loade.

Yep, a very good night! Every time we finished the last round, the landlord would say there was time to squeeze another one in. hence my memory of the latter stages of the evening is a little, er, sketchy :o Just remembered that you were actually up up early and off to a certain reservoir...

Paul Garner, Barbel fishing on Hampton Loade.

Must be something about that name. I think that was the swim where Mick Duffy had the session of his life at the bfw charity fish-in a couple of years ago. Though it might have been the next swim down, I forget. Though I shan't forget the sight of him walking into the River and Rail afterwards...

    Big Boots for Big Boys

:D:D:D I've just blown the two pics up and they are definitely the same photo. One of them has been photoshopped to add or remove the Wychwood logo. The one with the logo is 40% more expensive  Of course the Klobba ones could be fakes with a 'borrowed' photo. Actually anything bought...

    Big Boots for Big Boys

Interesting post, Stuart. I suppose the question is how much wear and tear is exceptable on a pair of wellies? Assuming you do 2 miles in your 40 mins, that's 1500 miles since you bought the boots. I'd expect some wear and tear on that kind of usage! But I don't know what the normal life...

    Daiwa Sensor Clear or GR60?

I came across this carp thread from October about problems with Synergy line: CarpForum Thread : Sufix Synergy problems : Carp Fishing Forum Basically a number of anglers had found that the formerly excellent Synergy had changed and become unreliable and they were losing fish. Thought it...

The Barbel Society Barbel Challenge In Aid of The Army Benevolent Fund

Those of us that fish the wider end of the mighty Sabrina know that she can be a cruel mistress and it sounds like she spat out Jerry and the guys as she has many before them. Let's hope the next leg gets them back to winning ways because they've done fantastically well so far :)

    head torch

I have the one with the left and right sliding button which is much better for turning on and off, but each colour has only one led so it's not very bright. It's a few years old now so they may not make it any more.

    Reel recommendations

I don't have one but the match boys rave about the Shakespeare Mach 3 reel and it's currently laughably cheap at Sports Direct (£33 for a reel that was considered a good reel at £70). Shakespeare Mach 3 XT Forward Drag 040 Fishing Reel - SportsDirect.com

Is there going to be any kind of blog going on during the 14 nights, so we can follow how you are getting on?

Aldi fishing tackle this Sunday 4th

Mmmm. A fishing chair with a magazine rack on the back. Why didn't I think of that?
  16. Andy Millichamp

Which chair would you choose ?

As someone with back trouble, I couldn't spend long in a Korum chair, the most unsupportive fishing chair I've ever sat in! I have the new type Fox Adjusta Level chair and I find it brilliant for my back. Not as light as the original but lighter than most and far better for my poor back. We...

    How long

The mobile approach works perfectly well on the River Severn so it's not just small rivers. For what it's worth, my thoughts are that If you stay longer in a swim, you may well catch a fish you wouldn't have caught if you'd moved — in fact my pb came from staying longer in a swim that I'd...

    What Mixers

I bought a bag of cheap Asda mixer last summer. It turned out to be useless, the biscuits fairly quickly became waterlogged and began to sink. Eventually I found some of the original Pedigree mixer, but I'm afraid I can't remember which supermarket it was.

    mainline

If it's made in Japan and/or came from Ebay ... ditch it. I lost 2 big barbel and a 20lb+ carp before I realised the line had decayed badly in only a few months. I replaced it with Big Game from a good (more expensive) supplier, it was Made in USA and I've had no problems with it.

    Don`t just post the catches!!

Stuart, that's what the river reports section is for, you won't be clogging anything up. And there are plenty of people who will appreciate your reports.
