    Book reviews on Amazon

just thought this was quite interesting. I have been contemplating buying a copy of Eel Chronicles by Steve Ricketts. found it rather interesting that the first seven reviews (all 5/5 apart from one 4/5) were attributed to the following contributors: Mrs. A - 5/5 J D Staples - 5/5 Mrs...

    Lone Angler

Mike, email Harrison rods. I recently did so asking what the difference was between the Torrix and the MUR (Multi Use Rod). I received an excellent informative response directly from Steve Harrison

    Super strong beaked point hook

Thanks Jim, strong hook but not got the beak point. Used them in the past but on the Hants Avon/Dorset Stour found they needed replacing continually due to the gravel, "dinking" the point.

    Surprise visitor

As we are on the subject, had a simply lovely day roving for chub on the Hants Avon. Sunny all day with temps up around 24 degs. Cattle, horses, swans, little Egret, swifts, peregrine, a duck. Felt privileged to be sharing the river and meadows with them all.

    'Nuts' for Carp?

I would opt for boilies. You won't get any trouble from the trout with them.

    Big Cat sightings

I think Bittern can turn up anywhere too. I agree that they are localised but the point I am making is that they are out there but you may never have seen one. I was lucky enough to see a Bittern on the Hants Avon at Ellingham circa 2002. Never seen one since.

    Big Cat sightings

Do you believe in Bittern? How many have actually seen one?

Seems a worrying bit of news .

Well let's hope that if somebody, unfortunately becomes quite ill that they sue the water authority responsible.

    Fishing a low stocked water

Two years a go I spent an awful lot of time fishing a Hants Avon venue that used to hold a good head of barbel but doesn't do the business anymore. I had a solitary barbel of 1lb but in the December I saw a monstrous barbel roll. Focused all of my efforts in that area for the remainder of...
