Just did not want to see you waste your money - even one of my local tackle shops suggested I look at other makes some years back. I think your option is a good S/H Shimnao or one of the Okumas - I use the old style Epix Pro (iin 40, 50 and 60s), the newer ones are quite well priced...

Strangely all my recent rods (hand-built split cane, Free Spirits and Hexagraph) have led to captures on their first time of use!

This cutting down of tackle is all well and good but I drink a serious amoiunt of Tea when fishing and struggle with less than 2 litres per 8 hour fishing trip! At least the flasks weigh less on the way back!
