A very sad day indeed! i have been staying at the royalty inn for at least 20 years! had some great times and dons breakfasts were brilliant!. Sadly business had taken a marked downturn and the pub had been struggling for a while. End of an era indeed, i remember it as the spud pub from years...
I am with you Jeff, gave up worrying about the size of fish a long time ago, seen too many people driven up the wall by the big fish at all cost mentality!. Any sized fish will do me as you well know!! Full respect for the people with the patience and time to sit it out for a biggie though!
Glad to see there has been a u turn on the proposed cull, saw a buzzard today, a beautiful bird. There are plenty of pheasants to go around! i bet there are more road kill pheasents than buzzard kill ones!
If you can water your garden with a watering can and you can fill that can with a hosepipe, then you can leave the hosepipe in the watering can and not break the law!! it is true i have asked the local water authority!. The madness of this hosepipe ban is we cant wash our cars with a hose but...
I remember fishing grove ferry and plucks gutter on the kentish stour many years ago, we used to get big bags of good sized roach up to two and a half pounds in the depths of winter. The colder the better down at plucks on a nice dropping tide get a swim by the bridge and bag up!! its a shame to...
We have a dire situation on our hands, especially in the south and east of the country, many years of over abstraction and nett usage of our water supplies have led us down a very dark road and unless we get a deluge of rain over a sustained period i fear we are in big trouble!!:(
You are probably right ray, the water companies want everyone in the country to have water meters not because it will save water but because they can up the price per unit year on year just like the power companies do!! 1 or 2 pence per unit does not sound a lot but when you are using thousands...
Profit profit profit, thats as far as you need to look to find why our waterways are in the state they are!! minimal investment for maximum profit is the water authorities way! dump raw sewage straight into the rivers because its cheaper than treating it, keep abstracting water even though there...
Lol!! i will have a look at the local sainsburys mate, if they have any i will get them for you. If not brekkie at the captains club what about sunday lunch? i am sure cat would love it!!!

Spot on pete! the sale of our national utilities to foreign companies is really coming home to roost now, with ridiculously high energy bills and water companies with absolutely no regard for the source of their product!!! No energy or natural resource should EVER be allowed to be sold to...
This may well sound strange to some, but putting a little vodka or any white alcohol into a groundbait/paste mix helps it to leak flavour better in the winter!!
