I rarely target chub and have caught bigger when after pike and barbel but this was immensely satisfying on a tough day. Caught on maggot.

I had mine recalibrated last year - I think they still do that. They have just run out of spare parts. If they know there is such a demand for them, maybe they would consider making them again!

Agreed. Was let down twice my chub digitals - never again. Reubon Heaton specimen hunters for carping/piking and avon dial scales for smaller species is, hopefully, all i'll ever need. Just recalibrate them every few years (if they need it).

I'm after a nice custom made 11ft rod from Santa this year. It will be used in the main for close range barbelling on the Yorkshire rivers. The options are a GTI or an torrix. I've a couple of pals who recommend the GTI. Does anyone have an 11ft 1.75tc torrix? How do you rate it for...

I'm biased so would normally go for the superb Swale fish but I can't not vote for the Thames monster.

20lb seaguer fluorocarbon to 2-3" of either gardner trickster heavy braid or kryston ultra braid. I always use an Albright knot, once mastered it will NEVER let you down. I wouldn't use sink braid, it doesn't knot well and frays and weakens and could cost you fish after it has caught a few. I...

The RE is bombproof though imo. Had the GTE -C and wasn't impressed with the build quality at all. In fact I broke the handles on both of them!
