Andreas, which model of the Drennan Tench rod is 2 peice? I have one of the said rods (buggered if I can remember which one but think its a mk4) and this is a 3 peice rod. Had plenty of barbs on it when trotting and also used it for chub/grayling in the winter.
At this time of the year when I don't need a hot meal my usual little bankside feast would be a couple of mini pork pies, a couple of ham salad barms and a packet of eccles cakes.............yummy.
During colder weather or if I am on for a long session I will take a small food flask with...
Mark I picked one up in my local pet shop for about £3 last year. I don't think they are going to be that expensive wherever you look but worth there weight in gold on occassions ;)
Also bought one of these ready for the new season. I've been impressed with it so far and it has loads of room in it for the extra items you may require on a longer session and as already mentioned is very comfortable on the back.
I've had a pair of the Spey boots for a year or two now and would recommend them to anyone. Comfy to wear and roam about in and will keep you warm in all but the coldest of conditions with a good pair of walking socks on.
Sad news Paul and I feel for you as I may be heading down the same route myself.
Funnily enough I have been fishing the upper recently with some reasonable succes but have started having trouble with my knees big time and was at the hospital only yesterday for x-rays. Walking is not too bad...
Congratulations Scott on an awesome Dove fish. I may have caught this same one in July 2007 at 13lb 12oz, the little nick in its pelvic fin is very distinguishing. Nice to see it has grown on to be one of the rivers gems.
I tend to use UK Weather, BBC Weather and Metcheck. They are all invariably different slighly and none of them totally reliable :(
Some how by looking at all of them I try to find a picture of what I think it will do and take it from there;)
Many years ago, possibly 1981ish, a mate (god bless his soul) and I went to Ireland for a weeks fishing and was advised to take maggot with us as in those days obtaining them over there and in any quanties was very difficult.
So we bought several gallons before we set off and our friendly...
I have a G6 which I picked up off ebay, a great bit of kit with the flip round screen and wireless remote which is a real bonus for self takes ;)
The only niggling bit of criticism is that it is maybe a little bit more bulky than I would have liked but I can cope with that.
These can still...
I was going to suggest the Drennan Tench rod myself, i've had barbs to just under double figures on this rod and use it for a lot of my trotting be it barbel, chub, roach and dace etc ;)
