My top 3 fish all came in July, albeit in different years. I usually switch to other species after October unless conditions are favourable so not a true reflection.
If I am fishing close to a feature such as over hanging willows a couple of casts before the light fades is usually enough to get my eye in so to speak.
Having said that I very rarely fish more than a rod length out on my chosen waters so it's never much of an issue.
Will only generally weigh fish that I think are a double or maybe a pb for a particular river. Don't see the sense in causing them unnecessary stress and like to get them back as soon as.
Jonathan to the best of my knowledge there are no day ticket stretches in that area at all so you may struggle, someone else may be able to advise differently.
Had a few fishy bits this time round such as a new head torch, a couple of drop off indicators and a fleece hat. In years gone by I have had some rubbish bought me by relatives with good intentions only for it to be given away or binned so was more than happy with this years results.
The one i've used with success is equal portions of ready made short crust pastry, blue cheese and the strongest cheddar you can get hold of. Roll out the pastry then grate the cheese over it, add a couple of teaspoons of garlic puree and kneed it all together. You can add a food or boilie...

Dave, I must admit I never clocked the postage charge and only looked at the sale price of the unit, however, there is this one at £12.91 and is delivered free in the UK

I must admit this is something I am paranoid...
You can pick one up from Amazon with a tin of lighter fuel for £12.55 which I would say is a good price as the tin of fuel would cost you at least a quid.

Acquired a couple of these myself and once you get the knack of lighting them they are very good, one actually stayed warm for 31 hours the other weekend!!
Rather than use a normal lighter to get them going which tends to soot up the head very quickly rendering them useless use a jet flame...
I have been using the Chub Hi-Lite for the last 18 months or so and cannot fault it, it's light, well built and it's comfy which is about as much I am looking for out of a chair.
Rich, i've had this problem myself in the past and found the best way to stop them splitting was to drill half way from each end. I now also use a battery drill with a small bit and this also seems to be better than doing it by hand and much quicker too. You can soon knock up a load of hook...
