I just like the closed season irrespective of the scientific evidence not yet collated, when fish such as pike or dace start to spawn, which nobody appears to pay any attention to, or nesting birds. Its great; a walk with the family, me pointing to chub, a shoal of dace or roach picked out by my...
That is not what the poll on another thread is saying! Two thirds want to keep it.
Trying to bully your views is clearly not working.
As for moral high ground; poppycock!:)
I didn't make myself very clear, sorry Mr Anderson.
Because it is one rule for one (the Stillwater), and one rule for another (the Rivers), that makes the close season change that took place 20 odd years ago, hypocritical. It should never have been allowed to happen that way and I believe that...
It never has been but it obviously feels compulsory for you!:p
You know what, I actually enjoying walking along my local rivers (none of which are navigable), in the springtime and watching everything acting naturally, including the fish which once again become readily visible and...
Indeed you can Nick but that is a contentious issue on its own. And you have only reinforced my comment about tench and perch which are found naturally, in abundance, in still waters.
Have to agree with Ian. I would be devastated if we lost the close. Apart from all the usual reasons to keep the close season on running water, who actually needs to fish for 12 months of the year always on the rivers anyway?
Nick, your comment about Perch and tench being at their top weights...
Have to agree with MrSwaby entirely.
Cannot believe the knockers reasons other than jealousy!
Imagine a River Monsters edition featuring MrAverage sat bankside watching his tip and then when it got dark.........still watching his tip, or, running a float through a thousand times in the same...
Trouble with forums dying on their arse in my opinion are too many backroom face slaps to the real characters in the game. There are always going to be controversial posters and people with strong opinions that upset the meek mild mannered majority, enjoy the conflict or deem their input as...
I hate seeing tackle shops failing to make a 'net' profit and then closing down. I have seen six go round my way over the last 15 years or so and I dont think that the web is wholly to blame as bad ones usually go anyway; the web has just sped up the process for the rest.
The biggest loss out...
12lb Sensor for me. You can't prat about with big barbel at this time of year with a line that you don't know about. I know that 12lb Sensor, knotted, breaks at 17lb.
Barbel are not clever, by any stretch of the imagination. The hardest barbel to catch are those that know you have arrived but even then they forget you are there if you can sit still long enough and have enough time......
Going on recent form I think it pretty obvious which option i chose! I do have a diary on another site but find it tiresome to report the blanks if nothing interesting has happened, so that has fizzled out a bit as i never catch anything. :)
You joke, but it was found dead Saturday morning approx 1/2 mile downstream from where it was last known to have been caught. I know the guy very well who found it (who is an angler), and have seen the pics he took on his mobile phone, (he walks his dog along the stretch). He did drag its corpse...
