Ah, the old non-splitting hemp.....
I think it’s down to a couple of things. It could be old stock or a crop harvested just a tad too early if I remember rightly.
I used to work for an animal feed manufacturer several years ago and one of my lines of production was the preparation and packaging...
Neil, with respect chap, otters don’t ‘mass kill’.
An adult otter taking just a single barbel, once a week, is enough. Do some maths and then add another otter, then make it two barbel each otter per week.....
I don’t think how you are feeling is anything to worry about!
To be a lifelong angler, you don’t have to go fishing all the time.
My advice would be to choose something new be it a style, species, season etc...
I have signed this simply because I’m sick of seeing otter damage in my local area. Losing the Ivel as a big barbel river, and numerous attacks on lakes leaves me seething. The complete and utter lack of sensible control measures to minimise damage caused by this apex predator are scandalous...
As Steve Walker said, a 6lb braid is too light for barbel fishing. 10lb plus IMO.
The older I get, the less and less I see a genuine reason for using any braided hooklength, ever!
It only helps increase the number of tangles and......sorry, can’t think of anything else it helps with!
Rhys, nothing that isn’t already common knowledge! The EA fisheries team are no longer regionally based and are national. Yes, that means a man who might live in Norfolk attending a poaching event in Devon, for example!
If you can’t enforce something that doesn’t really matter, why worry? Put...
Thought I would just add that some people put up a bivvy so they can go to the toilet without baring all to everyone.
My mum goes carping 2-3 times a week, going for a wee is a lot easier once she has the bivvy up!
I love the stuff for carp fishing. A few times over the years I have had a carp get into bushes that overhang. I have never had to pull for a break and not got the lead core back. It’s got great anti-tangle properties and is very robust. But I never use a hooklink stronger than the mainline or...
I’m delighted with what the Catch Cult team have produced with my scrawlings. Thank you very much, it’s great to see one of my most memorable seasons in print!
Life is much too short for just barbel, barbel, barbel.....especially when your local rivers are the Gt Ouse and Ivel. Fishing for them on these 2 rivers would be akin to carping a 200 acre pit for a handful of carp....just for weirdos!
My affair this year will hopefully be with either tench...
I can recommend John Hutchinson. No nonsense builds on new Harrison blanks and good quality refurbs. Knows a lot about all sorts of rods....last rod I had built by him was specifically for short range roach fishing...a delicate glass fly blank, just the job.
Brilliant price too!
If anyone...
Thanks Martin.
Sorry, don't mean to sound negative but that doesn't seem many to me given that the advertising space was completely taken.
I do wish you well and hope it's a success.
I'm no marketing genius but why would you ever sell out of a first edition? Seems bizarre in this day that a mag could be sold out before the second edition!
