My local tackle shop said they was informed by the drennan rep that a 17ft accy specimen is in the pipeline….no idea on timescale but will be an interesting addition to the range

daiwa TDX would be my choice too Mike followed by Daiwa matchwinner or Shimano Stradic GTM (the original Japanese models are best) If you prefer something a bit more retro have a look at a Shimano super match HS, superb trotting reels

Thanks, yeah the tip is a bit short…but longer than the Korum glide ones which are way too short. Shame but I’ll no doubt get a couple and try when next on the Severn I’ll have to get my name down for some of @Richard Isaacs I think

Cracking fish and a welcome interloper I say! IMO Chub are more rig shy than Barbel so shows you got working traps so there’s merit in that

For me I’d be looking to put it toward terminal tackle replacement and bait throughout the season…so an envelope with the cash would be the present

Compared to some friends/family hobbies/sports (golf, water skiing, snowboarding) fishing comes out quite reasonably priced. I’m pretty much like Chris…part of the attraction is buying and using nice new ‘toys’ done I keep and done get moved on, but I’m under no illusion they catch me more fish...

A visit to any decent Asian supermarket will present unlimited options for bait enhancement and you’ll soon see how much we overpay for bait additives. A 500g bag of Chinese 5 spice is a superb coating for meat and dusting powder for maggots and likely last you a couple of seasons for about £2...

Yeah agree….tends to make the blank more rigid whilst retaining a lovely cushioning playing action, it is my understanding that the Kevlar weave wrap used in rods such Fox Kevlar/kevlex, NWR, daiwa amorphous etc deteriorated quicker inder UV rays than the fibreglass it was wrapped around. And...

The original Trigga, trigga ice, Mainline grange and active 8 were all phenomenal baits
