    Pike

Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I was always under the impression that below a certain depth the water temperature stays around 4 degrees all year round. And I think that depth is around 8 feet. Doubt that transfers to running water though as surely it’s always mixing together

    Xmas pressy

Had no idea you could get heated bags. To be fair I brought a 4 season bag with a peach skin throw years ago when I used to do a bit of carp fishing and I used to get too hot in that. Minus 5 is probably the coldest I fished in but even then I was down to tshirt and shorts and had to remove my...

That’s amazing. I occasionally get them on my rods. Only ever got a picture once and that was cause I had my phone in my hand at the time. Never had one land on my head though lol

    Upstreaming for Barbel

I use longer hooklinks if I’m fishing upstream compared to down to try keep it further away from the main line. Lead wise I use heavy enough to keep a slight bend in the rod. I prefer a tighter line to keep the line off the bottom and away from the hook link. I know others prefer to let off...

    Time for a re-think

About 25 blanks in a row for me on the lower Severn this season til I caught. Probably 20 of them I didn’t have so much as a roach fart on my bait my rod tips stayed that stationary. Gradually started getting knocks and million rig tweaks eventually landed me some fish

    Fox Specialist Brolly Bargain

Yodel were meant to deliver mine yesterday between 5:32 and 7:32. Used the tracking number to see where it was at about 2 o’clock and it said it was 44 stops away. That never changed all night and went to bed at half 10 with it still saying the same. They delivered it today at 12:30 this...

I packed up about 45 minutes after this pic and by that point you couldn’t see the opposite bank. Packing my stuff up with the head lamp on you could only see about 6 foot infront of yourself. Driving home was crazy. Never driven is such thick fog before

    Hook choice???

I started using micro barbed last year after never using barbed before due to losing 1 in 3 fish to hook pulls most of which were when I’d got the fish to within a rod length out. I’d started using new rods at the start of the season and that’s the only thing I could put it down to. My old rod...

    Winter bib & brace

Yeah to be fair Iv sacked them off til it gets cold. Gone back to my army gortex. Still wearing shorts for work but recon I’d freeze on a night sat by the river in shorts lol

    Winter bib & brace

I brought a tracker 3 piece set a few weeks back. I had an old Shakespeare set Iv had for years but hardly ever wore. Decided to stick them on the other week when it was windy and I was drenched by the time I got in the car from condensation. Brought the tracker set and first time using them was...

    Meat fishing a nearside slack

One of the reasons I prefer a big chunk to small piece is that if an eel finds it it can’t wolf it down in one bite. Usually takes a while unless they bite right where the hook is. The first time I ever used half a big tin of spam on the hook I ended up catching the smallest eel Iv ever caught...

    Meat fishing a nearside slack

Big barbel will fit it in easy but you’re right in a way as sometimes they will bite the meat where the hook is and get hooked and occasionally when you land the fish you still have half your meat that has slid up the hooklink.
