Mark I've bought some better bearings NMB 7x14 x5mm double sealed . I'll clean it all over first then change them and degrees . Then add mill tackle oil .
It spins well straight from the box .

Just had one delivered as I took Mark Evan's opinion on board and his experience .
Straight out the box it's light , solid no wobble and spins well .
I've bought a set of better bearings for it and will clean, degrease and apply Mill tackle pin oil ... £35 and £9 for better bearings !!
I had the original Acolyte at 15ft and Feeder rod . I sold them as in my opinion they were far too soft . I bought them specifically for chub fishing and found that when a chub typically went for the margins and under my feet they were spineless ..
Yes just push the hook into to a lump of cheese as you would meat . It's a visual bait as well so the chub see it coming 😊😊... another trick I learned was to cast well up steam and bounce the bait back towards you . 👍🎣🎣
If it's damp then when your on the bank look for 'BIG BLACK SLUGS' absolute cracking chub bait ... also get some Red Leicester cheese , the cheapest one you can so it's tough . That is a great bait to free line .., and my old man also caught hundreds of chub on freelined cherries !!! 😊🎣can't...
