    Daiwa QD Reels

You can do exactly the same thing with an ordinary drag, front or rear drag as with the QD. The only difference is it takes more roatation of the drag. The fighting drag on some of the shimano reels, is imo a much better option than the front quick drag drag. If you have any of them set soft...

    Chasing chub....

I Thanks for that Richard 👍. I think catching barbel in cold temp's is down to a mixture of things.... knowing the water your fishing, how the fish respond to the conditions and what triggers them into feeding because you may only have a short window of opportunity when they do go on the...

    Chasing chub....

Ben, it was great bud, I only fished for 2hrs and it was action packed. One of the best parts was I was able to fish down the inside bank so fished off the bank saving me from having to wade in the icy cold water!

    Chasing chub....

Today made me think of the kids nursery rhime about incy wincy spider, and how the sun came out and dried up all the rain lol. That's kind'a what happened today, and once the clouds cleared and the bright rays of the sun shone down onto the water the fish began to feed! As soon as the sun went...

    Chasing chub....

With the river temp being 4 degrees I certainely wasn't going to wade today. I had a long walk to an out the way spot where I was able to fish a deeper channel down the inside bank.... turned out to be well worth the walk! I had a chub first trot through, and then quite a few other chub...

    Chasing chub....

If truth be known I really wanted to catch a barbel on the float today, but with the river temp being 4 degrees that was a long shot! However, I did manage to catch over 30 chub, but unfortunately they were only small at a guesstimate of a pound and a half to two pounds. I was stood out in the...

They look great! I've had some really good sun tops, etc of temu. My mrs got me a pair of thermal trousers the other week at a cost of 10 quid. I 've worn them twice and they have been excellent, loads of pockets, etc, they're even waterproof! If you see something you like, put it in your...

I spend more than enough in tackle shops, it's not all about fishing tackle anyhow. For me, buying from temu is a no brainer.

    Bolo floats

Rather than cut a stem down I would use a different float, a drennan loafer as an example. I use a long stemmed bolo in water as shallow as 18 inches with no problems at all.At the end of the day depending on how your fishing, your bait is gonna precede your float or be behind it.
