Just for reference, I often use a 14ft rod whilst out wading in the river and have no problems at all reaching fish when netting them using the nets I have put links to above. I would have no problems scooping the fish up with those nets if I used a15 ft rod either.....I have done it with a...
As far as i'm aware Keith spears often fished chalk streams/rivers which originate from below the ground via aquifers, so the water isn't as cold as round these parts Ste. As you know the river we fish runs off huge rocky hills and which are cold enough at the best of times, but the amount of...
The net head is a solid alloy circle which folds over against the extendable handle. It is a really good net and has a clip to attatch it to your belt, trouser top etc.
I also have a snowbee folding net which folds down completely against the handle (I think they are known as tri folding nets)...
The longer version, I think the " conti " one looks handy if a fish is hooked further down it's mouth/throat.
I'll have a nosey at one when next in the tackle shop.
As you say, even if they are copies, if they are of the same stamp and quality then good stuff.
As I said, i'm sure I remember the subject of them being unavailable now and how someone had started to make copies on their 3D printer. I belive 3D printers copy things exactly so it doesn't...
I think they are copies done on a 3D printer Richard. Nothing wrong with that but i'm sure I remember a conversation somewhere about those disgorgers and how someone had started to do the 3D copies and sell them on ebay.....of course I may be wrong.
I remember when the white exceed disgorgers...
Those wrap over or even zip up cases won't stop your reel being crushed in a tackle bag.
IMO the better wrap over type reel covers/cases are the neoprene types like the okuma pouches which come with the okuma reels.
For that purpoes I would suggest you to wrap the reel in a soft cloth and place into a suitably sized plastic maggot container.
I have loads of reel cases, but I much prefer the protection of the cloth and maggot box.
I usually have my clutches set medium to light, if I want to slow the drag or slam it on instantly for some reason I simply apply the desired amount of pressure on the spool using my forefinger to slow its rotation or stop it, exactly the same as I do when using a centrepin reel.
I just alter...
I have the tdr reels with the quick drag, i've only used the smallest one whilst float fishing for tench etc. Yes I think it is very sensitive if used in the increments but I would definately prefer a baitrunner reel for legering for barbel or pretty much anything else if using more than one...
I am a fan of drennan, but seriously, their river floats are naff. As David says, they are fragile. Moving the line up or down the line you need to hold the wire as it just bends right round !
I wouldn't recommend them.
