I owned a pair of these for a while. Purchased second hand, brown hollow glass and built by Terry Eustace. I recollect a test curve of 1.25 lb at 11 feet. From comments here maybe I'm wrong. I used the rod for barbel on my local river and the fish certainly put a bend in the rod. The 'power' of...
I'm not sure which one was photoshoped.
Fairly good evidence at about 31 minutes. The Forest of Dean. The YouTube video is Chasing Shadows:Britain's big cat mystery.
Well I've recently seen my first live badger. In my back garden of all places. My wife also saw a badger the other morning. This time at the front of the house. Presumably the same animal?
I can't provide an indisputable sighting clip mainly podcast links. The 'big cat experts' on these...
I purchased a BR25a early in 2024 for my pit tench rods. Since then I've transferred it to a 2.25 lb tc barbel rod. It seems to be reasonably well engineered (without that annoying 'give' on cranking the handle). The bait runner is smooth. I backwind so can't comment on the drag. I'd buy...
Great stories Paul and Haydn. Particularly Paul's. I'm a book collector and have (very) occasionally found a good copy at a bargain price. Not as lucky as Haydn though 😅.
I don't mind spending the money on quality gear. My first Harrison rod is approaching 28 years old. I buy my rods new and (tend) to buy good quality 'top end' reels second hand. I don't need much tackle now. My club ticket spend in England was under £200 in 2024 and I used them less than 10...
Always intrigued as to the differing descriptions of the service offered. 'Ghillie' or 'guide'. Personally, not for me, unless you're fishing somewhere abroad and need the use of a boat and tackle. On the waters in this country, if it's personal instruction on a particular technique, fair...
I use red maggot a fair bit for my tenching and red pellet for barbel. Inevitably, it gets onto and into the cork handles. I've found that diluted washing up liquid/ tepid water and a sponge to clean does the job. They come up looking like new. Just an end of season clean then stored away.
The Clyde has a record of producing big coarse fish specimens. I was informed by a Scottish friend of specimen roach catches in the early 1980's.
I think Joe is on the right track as an explanation for the lack of Barbel in the Scottish rivers. Plus game fishing interests will persecute the...
After not owning a brolly (other than the occasional one that were soon destroyed in the winter weather). I purchased a Korum Pentalite. I've had it about four years now. A good piece of kit. Quick to put up and down. Survives wet and windy weather and I can just about fit underneath for...
Hi Adam.
My car is still in the repair garage. They can't get a part to complete the work. Unlikely to be before the 12th . I'll arrange pick up when I know further detail.
Ady
Thanks Adam. I can empathise with bad backs. I had mine operated on 3O+ years ago. I will pay the money and pick up when my car is fixed. Do you travel anywhere near Rutland?
Hi Adam. Yes I'll have it thanks. My car is with the insurer being fixed currently. Is that a problem for you? I can pay you via PayPal. Have you packed fishing in Adam? Shame if you have Cheers Ady
