Okay, well my suggestions based on what I use and enjoy (in addition to various Acolytes) would be a Maver Signature Pro Classic Float (I’ve got a 15’er but they made them in 14, 15 and 16’) a Browning Sphere Spliced Tip Rod or maybe a Daiwa Spectron Spliced Tip Rod.
I’ve got a 17’ Acolyte Lee, and although it is a little more niche, it’s a very good trotting rod. If you can keep that and get either a 13’ or 15’ Acolyte Plus, you’d be up and running. Well, up and trotting I guess 😅
I’ve not tried one either (Tri-Cast that is), but it’s another suggestion Steven. When all is said and done, there’s a reason why there’s not much else other than the Acolyte range, and it’s a simple equation: in terms of availability, usability and bang for your buck, there’s nothing better.
Yup, and I also said it was basically an Acolyte Plus. I have it on good authority that Drennan gave it the “Carp Waggler” moniker for nothing other than commercial reasons 🤷🏻♂️
I’m sure it does. The Acolytes I use for grayling are the 11’ Carp Waggler (basically an 11’ plus when wading) and the 17’ model. The 17’ is brilliant but a funny action compared to the others. Not that it’s bad mind you, just different. I mainly use the 13’6” Sphere though, which no Acolyte...
Another vote for the 13'6" Sphere, Steven.
They certainly surface more frequently than the 15'6" (much to my enduring chagrin), so worth keeping your powder dry and waiting on one (and they are very, very good) :)👍
