    Few bits

I had some Free Spirit ESs which were the lower TC version in the range to the XS. Very nice for close work as well as for bigger distances, and pricey at the time.

    Tench rods.

I don’t, I’m just going on what I’ve read on the internet. They’re well very well regarded by a lot of carpers for short to medium range stuff, which would mean long distance for me, and have a good playing action I bought some rods from Alan a few years ago, they were in great condition and...

There are three Armalites on eBay with a reasonable starting price but not with cork handles

    Tench rods.

Last time I looked Harrison still had the interceptors on their website, not sure that means they still have the blanks though

    Tench rods.

I reckon the C2 would be great up to 50-60 yards as Joe says but struggle a bit beyond that. I’ve used 1.75 Torrixs which I liked and the Drennan Tench and Bream in 1.75 and 2lb which were either too soft or too stiff for me. I’ve settled on the Infinitys which I really like and I can use for...

I’m not sure then, Alex. Everything I’ve sold recently I got the full amount for, it’s obviously not as straightforward as I thought

    Another tackle shop going

I bought an acolyte plus on a discount from Fishing Republic. I think there was a bit of a fuss about them doing it after. And it was the old company before they went into administration and were bought by Go Outdoors which also might say something

    Another tackle shop going

The accounts only included the acquisition of two new stores, the others came after the accounts year end.

    Another tackle shop going

I would imagine Angling Direct make a loss from their shops. From what I gather half their sales are from the sheds and theyre barely profitable as a company. Their return on capital employed is very low as well - nobody’s getting rich. I like my local AD, it’s a bit of a journey but...

    Ebay

I sold a rod over the weekend, I received the full price + postage and I’ve just transferred it to my bank account. I also went out and got myself a tube from carpet right at lunchtime today, paid for postage and dropped it at FedEx which is 5 minutes drive away and it’s arriving tomorrow...

    Sending a rod .

You’re right, they don’t. I think declared value cover meant they paid out only if it was clearly their “fault” rather than insurance which paid out regardless. So if the damage was caused by poorly packaged fishing rods then they weren’t liable. I could well be wrong though. And not...

    Sending a rod .

Someone, and thank you to them, recommended fedex recently. A bit of work needed to set up an account but they were much cheaper than everyone else and offered full insurance with no conditions when I send a couple of 12” 2 piece rods recently

    Korum Day Shelter

I had one, it’s much bigger and a better shape than a brolly, it’s sturdy and I liked how much more you could see out of it. And light for the size It’s bulkier to carry than a brolly, though, so not great if you don’t have a barrow or can park near your swim. I was fishing a very windy...
