    river reports

I fish the Ouse and Ivel. For my money, the extremely poor catch rates are generally down to the unholy amount of abstraction, plus chemical and sewerage pollution. The Ouse wanders through some of the most heavily farmed arable countryside in the UK, plus of course there are many large towns...

    Head torches and swim disturbance

I've never had a problem using torches at night. In fact pre chemical night lights, I always shone a torch beam onto my rod tip. Never affected my catch rate.

Century Pulse Tony Miles 11ft 6inch, 1.25lb tc Chub Rod

lol tippex. The tippex is great in low light conditions. Absorbs light and is easily scrubbed off. 😀

Century Pulse Tony Miles 11ft 6inch, 1.25lb tc Chub Rod

Tbf, I haven't a clue, I'll grab it later and post a picture or two up. It was my first true barbel rod. Got a feeling the blank is green, with a 1.5 TC. My previous tool being the Diawa Heavy Feeder (super rod, I still have).

Of course. I certainly don't doubt it's weight. It just seems more and more trophy shots are with the camera lens up close, or the fish held way forward.

In fairness, the fish is being thrust forward, so the scale isn't relative to the angler

    The price of hemp!

There's been an on going problem with hemp, re size and price. I've been stuck with the tiny seeds for over a year now, it's pants, but still splits. I also buy sunflower hearts by the 20 kg sacks and that too has gone up in price, from about £17.50 per 20kg, to £35.50 this year. I wonder if...

I use the 1.25 where conditions are less extreme, and for large roach

    Chub rod

The 1.5 would be better for chub. I've the 1.5 and 1.25, both super rods

    Fox Specialist Brolly Bargain

Excellent brolly that I've used for a fe seasons now. You need a large central compartment in your quiver to hold it though. I found the Aqua one perfect. The Fox equivalent doesn't do the job. I've tried it.
