Yep I went there too, and survived ...just. :) . Probably fished Saltford Keynsham Chew etc too. Anyway I assume you are not 'Gas'...lived in Whitchurch Lane Hartcliffe, then family moved to Brislington, ended up in the sticks at Clutton, ran away and joined the RAF .😀

You are a lucky chap fishing there, the Wilsons did a series of vids there, you might like those. Dave was full time there, and John joined him until his passing. John you might have guessed is hero of mine, and many others too. Btw I am ex Bristol too, Brislington mainly, born next to the...

    Happy New Year and .....

I didn't really fish at all 2024 save for just three or so sessions which were uneventful. The keenness is still there but my local Warks Avon has been poor of late and I never once fished my local stretch that has given me so much sport in the past. Probably good to have a sabbatical of sorts...

    A Christmas Puzzle

In the rush to spend on stuff we don't really need, and probably already have spare a thought for so many who don't have much at this time of year... for those that have everything try sticking a few items in their local food banks. There is so much real poverty in this country and the sheer...

How much are you prepared to spend…

Being of an age when I can afford perhaps better gear, I find my years of having to be very prudent to be hard to shake off. I have new rods and reels still unused, preferring to use the older tackle. As blokes we seem to like 'stuff' be it cars , motor bikes, cameras, rods, reels, phones all...

How much are you prepared to spend…

Talking of motorcycles I have just helped son with the purchase of a new Honda CB125 ...it was delivered last week and straight off the delivery van I just had to hop on and make sure it was OK...I haven't ridden a bike for some 25 years but muscle memory kicked in and it all came back and the...

How much are you prepared to spend…

Yes I shudder at some of the motors I have had and let go, mainly a B.S.A C15, motor cycle, a Capri, Sunbeam Stiletto car ( a upgraded rare Imp).

1.5lb TC nice through action for chubing anyone?

For a cheaper and great fun rod look at the Korum All rounder I have several Avon rods, and if you have an old John Wilson Avon you will see the action is ideal for small river Chubbing. But for me winter chubbing with an avon rod is a wonderful way to spend a few hours.

    Acolyte users??

Talking of extras in protection, the best I have was with a Drennan specialist Barbel rod, it was the quality single speccy sleeve and also came with a Drennan isotope.

Why no "Ghillie Service" for course fishing?

Never really understood the need for a guide, the sheer unknown and adventure in fishing new rivers is for me the buzz is sorting it out, to have a guide alongside is not for me. Carl I used to live in Southampton, and there is so much to go for, the Avon ,Test, Itchen, Stour and much more...

    Paste and boilie soaks

For me paste from halli pellets dipped in glug on the hair. Whatever glug is of no matter really imo. Just soak small pellets in water that just covers pellets and mould..
