Will they take barbel rods (generally have shorter handles than carp rods) or are they designed for carp style rods? Just asking to make sure that they are okay for use with 12’ barbel rods? 😉 Dave

Glad someone else is catching pike on ledgered meat. I’m getting fed up with catching the things from the Hampshire Avon! Perhaps the pike boys should try it as an alternative to deadbaits in rivers?😉 Dave

Tony, Day ticket stretches of the Avon are a bit thin on the ground. There is the LAA water @ Britford - there are barbel in there but not in great numbers. Alternatively, Christchurch offer a week holiday ticket, which gives access to all their waters - full details on their website...

Middle Avon is about 20 mins away for me with the Stour (Throop) perhaps another 10 mins, so not too bad and still affordable….just!! Only longer trip I make these days is an annual close season outing to Marsh Farm which is around 60 miles and an hour or so each way, traffic permitting. Dave
