    Record Barbel

He said he'd caught it twice Terry. Jeff would have caught it at least three times, once even in the depth of midwinter, snow on the ground, frost in the air, and the Himalayan balsam in full bloom. ;)

    Record Barbel

I wouldn't believe him either Joe.

    Pellets for Barbel in Winter

I had 22 barbel in 4 sessions last December, on the Lower Severn; all on pellets.

    Record Barbel

Sussex river = Arun I'd guess.

    warwickshire avon/stour

I don't think they were big fish that dad had that day, perhaps 3lb each. He wasn't far down from the mouth of the Stour that day, he was the only angler to have a barbel. The river was at normal level, and he caught them on maggot. I'd guess that any barbel there then, or indeed now, would move...

    warwickshire avon/stour

Yes. I fished it around that time. It was very good, some good chub and roach fishing. We had a match there in '90 on the main river, and I remember my dad having two barbel on the stick float. They were also in the Stour itself, I saw one in very clear water the one day, a good fish at the...

    Shimano baitrunner oil

3 in 1 works for me Chris.

    Trollies/barrows

I did wonder about that Graham, not sure if it's best to pull, or push your gear really.

    Trollies/barrows

Chaps, after suffering a recurrence of my heart problem whilst weighed down with gear on Tuesday, I was wondering what people use in the line of trolleys or barrows for getting gear to swims. I'm mostly lower Severn so it would be a flat walk, nothing heavy duty really, it would just be my korum...

    Waterway Wanderers

A mate of mine told me about this a while ago. Utter nonsense as far as I'm concerned, Graham - I'd just turn up and fish.

    Baitrunner OC 8000 any reviews

The OC and the "D" models are the best quality Shimano's currently make in my opinion. Proper solid reels.

    Close Season Retained

That's what I voted for Graham, this year, we've been fishing for spawning fish in July, and there's been many a year we've been doing the same on June 16th.

Barbel fishing in France / Belgium /Holland

Ade Kiddell on Facebook is the man to ask I'd say Lee. I've got a few mates who went last year.

    Warwickshire Avon barbel

Lee - they can't mate, Charlton weir is in the way, unless there's a flood.

    Warwickshire Avon barbel

Lee - if I remember rightly, I think it was Cleeve Prior that John Rourke had that 100lb of fish, and not Marlcliff. I read somewhere a while ago, that barbel were in the Norton Corner area (just up from Twyford), in the late 70's - which wouldn't surprise me. The one I hooked in '87, was a...

    Warwickshire Avon barbel

I hooked one in 1987 in a match at Twyford Farm, I'd heard of barbel coming from Fladbury a few years before that. Personally, I don't believe barbel colonised the river from the Severn as claimed - stocking occured at some point, either legally or otherwise.

    Fishing Seatbox wanted

Hi Hurgen, I do the tame carp match puddle thing in the summer, and own a Rive as Rich as mentioned, great box, but very expensive for bits and pieces. If I was in the market for another one, I'd get a Matrix s36. They're similar to my Rive, with a sliding footplate and 36mm legs. A few mates...

Collingham weir pegs 1 to 10

It amounts to pretty much the same in my opinion Terry. Each to their own, but circuses aren't my bag.

Whats best recent bit of tackle you have bought ?

Mine's a very simple item, a Gardner rig bin, £7 i think. Much better than boards and pegs.
