    Ticket price increase.

I'm in the same club, and it's a jump yes, but I'll pay anyway. To be honest £100 is a drop in the ocean compared to what i spend on fishing in a year. I have commented on the BAA site a few times that I'd pay £100 for that if they got rid of this silly 'hour after sunset' rule, at £40, that...

    What is fishing?

A pastime, but potentially a religion for me at least. I'd certainly be lost without it, especially recently.

    River Severn near Worcester

No Cliff, the BAA don't do day tickets these days. The free bits that Neil has mentioned are the only ones i can think of off the top of my head.

    Time for a re-think

Agreed, three blanks is a regular thing for me to be honest. My Lower Severn record is 13, from a few seasons back. Blanks are 'character building' though, apparently.

The most selfish thing I’ve ever seen in angling

A total lack of etiquette. I've seen it displayed before on the Lower Severn, anglers chasing a big fish drop in yards below an angler who is already fishing. It's very annoying. I can't say I'm the least bit surprised by this example.

Strange things on the river bank.

I'd have thought you'd have mentioned the 'Nafford big cat' Neil, or perhaps the Mid-winter himalayan balsam petals. :)

Strange things on the river bank.

Similarly Graham, Lower Severn with a very high bank/cliff behind me, clay pigeon shoot going on up there, I spent most of the session facing away from the river to dodge falling clays.

    Hampton Loade BAA Car Park

It's been an issue for a while it seems. A few years ago, the NT said they lock their car park 'at sunset', which all well and good until it became apparent that the NT decided what time sunset was each day. Lots of campers/lunatics seem to occupy the opposite bank in summertime, so it wouldn't...

    Thames head dries

It's going to get worse Neil. Thicklizzy will see to that. The last 12 years have been a disaster, and the current lot are to blame. Starmer is Tory-lite, so we are doomed.

    Thames head dries

I don't think having a higher population is the issue. When the water companies were privatised in the early 90's, a whole swathe of investment was promised, a better infrastructure and all that sort of thing. Predictably, that never happened, and just like everything else, the money was given...

    Losing your mojo?

Must admit, I've lost a little of mine, but i fish matches to keep me busy in the summer months. The cost of fuel now is huge negative when decided whether to fish, I prefer short 3/4 hour sessions, which makes it an expensive game now. In winter, I can go 4 or sometimes 5 times in a week...

    Hook choice???

I use the Pallatrax hooks also, previously in 'The Hook' pattern, and now Gripz, which are barbless, but they seem to hold just fine. I've never seen these Claw hooks as Rich mentions, I'll have to check them out.

    Hiking/walking boots

My 8 year old brashers have finally given up, so I'd like another pair that last just as long if i can get some. ANy recommendations for new ones? I prefer a boot in summertime, before switching to Muckboots when the winter mud arrives. John

    Memberships.

I was on 5, but dropped to 4 for this season. Going to concentrate on the Upper Trent this summer I think, with a few mid sevs to break up the blanks. Lower Sev will grab my attention in Autumn time, as always.

    Mr B Fisher

I know a Barry Fisher that lives in Worcs, as already said, i don't think he's ever made floats. He fishes for eels/pike/perch most of the time.

What are your targets for the new season?

A middle Severn 13, and a 15 from anywhere, oh how I'd love one of those.
