10 ft cadence 1.5 tc rod

I have the 12ft 1lb TC which I use for chub fishing and it is excellent. I bought it direct from James Robbins at one of his Cadence roadshows as a package with a CS10 reel. I notice they are offering the package again making the rod and reel combo a bargain...

    Deformed barbel

I would think the explanation is congentital rather like scoliosis in humans.

    What are you favourites hooks?

Another vote for the Bank Tackle wide gape barbless (10s & 8s). Also a good source for swivels, PVA bag clips etc. For float fishing I use Kamasan Animal spades mostly size 8 for cubed meat. Look for ebay sellers doing deals on multi packs e.g. 5 x packs of 10 hooks if you cannot get them...

    Cheese Flavours

In the past I have ground up Wotsits and Quavers to add to paste and liquidised bread. I also keep all the end pieces of wedges of parmesan in the freezer and once I have a decent quantity grate them finely and add that to liquidised bread

Darent Valley 13ft 2 piece specialist float rod.

Yes, I have one of these. My main motive for buying it was because I can carry it set up in a quiver without the faff of a three piece although having used my three piece 15ft rods I now find I can cope with those set up, having sorted my technique for packing them away. It is an OK rod...

Daiwa air Z ags 14ft float rod

I get the feeling some twin tip rods only get used with one tip, usually the quiver section. I must have 5 such rods including a John Wilson rod that has 4 tip sections. This means the manufacturer is pricing the rod at a higher price than say a "Quiver rod" or "Avon Rod" that comes with just...

Nandos under fire for killing our rivers.

I think a lot of this is driven by a potential claim for £200 million quid that is being handled by a company that, if successful, will benefit to the tune of 30% of the compensation.

Daiwa air Z ags 14ft float rod

Looking at the Daiwa website it states suitable for 3-10lb lines which seems a very wide range. Also described as being for "Mainstream" float fishing and I don't really get what they mean by that. £699.99 is a heck of a lot of money too! The weight is 220 grams which puts it about the same...

    Freespirit Tamer Power Float 15'

As I think you know Rich, I bought a 13ft Power Tamer last year but didn't ever get to use it due to the float fishing season getting cut short due to early autumn floods, being away on holiday etc. Perhaps we should do a comparison session with our various rods?

    Freespirit Tamer Power Float 15'

I have the Acolyte 15ft Specimen and the original Free Spirit Hi-S 15ft. Of the two rods my "Go To" is the Free Spirit but equally the Acolyte has accounted for double figure barbel. There is something about the thin walled blank of the Acolyte that makes me fearful of a breakage and reluctant...

    Float rod for Trent barbel

I realise this is an extensive thread but wondered if anyone had any experience of these rods? https://www.thomasturner.com/shop/brand-new-tt-classic-14ft-float-rod-with-bag-and-cordura-tube/ I don't recall them being mention before.

    Touch legering and rolling baits

I fished a whole season a few years back almost exclusively on a centre pin. In fairness most of the time I was fishing a river where I could get half way across with a centre pin. They do teach you to not ignore what is close in on your own bank. As I float fish on about nine out of ten...

Carry Case for Drennan Acolyte Compact

Does anyone know where I might get a rod bag/carry case for a Drennan 13ft Acolyte Compact? The original is shaped so that it can be carried with a reel mounted (see photo) with the extension piece of the handle tucked in a pocket inside the case. The zip has broken on mine and Drennan no...

    Bloody typical

There is a small river I fish (possibly same river as you) where an 11ft rod would be an advantage over my current Acolyte Ultra 13ft compact. I did, however, partially solve this recently by forgetting to take the 12" section of the handle that screws in below the reel seat. 🤣 I hear good...

Best reel For trotting when casting distance?

I am not a big fan of fixed spool reels for trotting but at times it is a case of needs must. I am currently using a Cadence CS10, 4000 size and like it very much as the clutch is totally reliable (I don't backwind) which gives me confidence when I have the net in one hand ready to land a fish.

Welcome Richard. I am assuming the Wye is not on your doorstep but you are over that side of the country. Hereford & District AA have a good amount of water and various membership options and all info is on their website https://hdaa.org.uk/membership/. I am sure locals will post up details...
