How about being bitten off at 2am by a rigonda (not sure of the spelling but it's a big rat like a beaver) in France? Same beast bit my mates line through 5 mins later.
This week's offering on the Wye will delight the continuity pedants. Different rods and different reels during the same fight sequence. Couldn't comment on the 'banter' bits as I fast forwarded through the non-fishing bits. Interesting to see Mr Bob touch ledgering. Not a technique I'd expect...
Fishing the Wye for two consecutive days a few years back I lost a barbel to a snag on day one and caught it on day 2 with the hook still lodged in the corner of its mouth.
On the same trip my better half had a 17lb pike after it grabbed a 2lb chub she was playing. Both chub and pike went back...
Bit late now but if you have any left with both ends you could run a length of power gum between the ends with two beads knotted on as stops at either end. Wouldn't lose either end that way!
Saw my mate catch, kill (iki-jime) and gut a pink snapper in Australia. It then bit him, jaws clamped shut on his thumb. Revenge of the zombie snapper or just a muscle reflex action. Matey didn't half howl though.
Local shop in Birmingham still has the sonu baits elliptical pellets in both sizes although the date on them is June 20. Price is unchanged at 4.99 a kg.
Pro Clear 12lb from Gold Label. No truth in the rumours its been discontinued. Rob Eustace at Birmingham Angling Centre has miles (literally) of the Pro lines (CLEAR, TOUGH, DISTANCE ETC)
Bit tangential to the original aim of the thread but if I might take a small liberty Richard, I would recommend Alan Hawk"s reel reviews http://www.alanhawk.com/reviews/reviews.html
I bought a couple of reels based on his reviews (for sea fishing) and endorse his assessment of them. Even if you...
Not strictly the biggest fish I have never caught but last year I had a few days fishing at a small lake stocked with carp and a few kois. King of the pond was a known koi around 30lb.
On the middle day of the trip the fish showed a bit of interest in floaters but proved a bit tricky to hook...
Yes, it's the same shop now run by Eric Oakes who built a lot of Terry's rods. Rob eustace is in there behind the counter sometimes. I'd be v surprised if Pro gold isn't still available in 100 and 1000 yrd spools. I bought both Pro distance and pro clear relatively recently. If Eric isn't keen...
Hi Julian. I'm assuming you have tried Birmingham Angling Centre? 0121 373 6627 as the main source of GLT stuff Eric will be able to tell you definitively whether it's out of production. He's reopened now and opens Mon-sat until 5pm.
