Normal levels on both, 2lb will be absolutely fine, even a couple of feet. I have fished hoveringham and if it's the road stretch, the Barbel were always tight to the bottom of the slope... try not to overthink it and just enjoy Jim...
I fish both tidal and non tidal, and tbh the Tidal is far easier to fish than the non tidal. The tidal just fills up with less pace. Non tidal more more pace...
