I've just bought a new one and 'will not' be overtightening it!! The new one locks when I turn it the other way though but that doesn't really matter so long as it locks!
I discovered the pole had split at the end where the widget was so even after cleaning it out and superglueing it in it came...
That winds me up too! It's as if these people on fb have to photograph ever single fish they catch even the small ones!! Just to prove to everyone they've caught!?
Ah bad luck Mike. Yeah I remember standing there on the work party. Looks nice. The irrigator was mentioned by the chap on utube. That's why he avoided that area.
I got both Aventa rods towards the end of last season but have not yet tried them out.
The 7 footer is rigged up ready for my local River Nidd where I believe it would be perfect. It certainly feels powerful enough to extract those nidd nutters from under the willow branches!
I've just got it working again 😃. Superglue held the widget in place just fine where end of section was split, but it now locks when I turn it the other way now! 😆. (Note to self..'Do not overtighten')
I've just realised my 'widget' was jammed at the end of the pole near the cap and the whole thing had detached from the inner pole! On closer inspection it seems the end of the pole has split!
It may be possible to chop a bit off and still fit a new widget?
I'm tempted just to get a new handle...
If your after a low water/small barbel rod I've been using a fox royal 1.5lb 12 foot rod with quivertip and Avon section and its perfect imo.
I'm also using a Drennan Duo Specialist 1.5lb 11 foot rod for tighter swims!
So far so good with the GT80+. It's nice and supple, knots well, cast well and I've got caught up in a snag and still got everything back! So I think the 12lb is certainly 'understated' as I was told and breaks higher 👌
