Next time you catch a Cray stamp on him and chuck him in the margin…within a short time there’ll be a cannibal feeding frenzy, they live eating there own kind…vile creatures but guess it demonstrated why there so successful at adapting to different environments! I also noticed recently a well...
Was my 8th birthday and I got a Woolies winfield starter kit. I didn’t take to it initially and it probably sat in the cupboard for a few months with little use, then one day I came home from school to find a big trout on the kitchen table and my dad telling me he borrowed my rod and caught it...
It’s horrendous destruction of a natural habitat for so many species; it will all grow back but in the meantime leaves the resident wildlife very vulnerable. Was there any reasoning for it?
Have a look for a drennan DRX river feeder or a matchpro feeder….or if you can find one a drennan combo feeder that can be used at 11/6 12/6 - superb versatile rods that will cover all your needs. The extra length might be useful on the Thames? The acolytes also come in 13/14ft
There is a 13’10...
It might be in some areas but not mine unfortunately, the benefit of paper/card covering is it’s universally recyclable. As I say only a small gripe but one that maybe could also affect others?
Probably a bit far, I’m in Bucks…
If you can find one in shops they are great rods with plenty of grunt for chucking out a small live bait under a bobber but not lacking in finesse for flicking out small baits too
Where you based Nigel? I have a new one (bought 2 for Tenching but only ever used 1) might be tempted to let it go but don’t want to get into posting rods
I’ve also subscribed since the start….superb mag with a wide range of articles. I can only imagine the work behind the scenes to get it published 👏
My only gripe which I’ve mentioned before was when the paper based mailing sleeve was replaced by a non recyclable one (at least in my area)

Lovely rods, I had one of the originals when released, sold it and regretted it then bought another of a member on here a couple of yrs back. It’s a traditional Avon style that will bend round to the corks…probably not many fish it won’t tame in normal conditions. Has 1,3 and 4 oz quivers and...
Not tried guru drag but have their pulse pro line and thought that was similar but not quite the same…it didn’t quite match pro golds suppleness and stretch. I’m still looking for a replacement to pro gold too
2nd edition, 200 pages of multi species delight, not really a magazine more a booklet similar to ‘sub surface’ format
More info here but think they are now sold out https://piscatormag.co.uk/

Had a similar problem in the Ouse before….was using whole prawn over chopped prawn, worm and spraying maggot over the top occasionally. After having a chat with a local matchman he said I was probably overfeeding the small fish for the time of year and I should just try very sparingly flicking...
Only mags I buy now is catch cult and Fallons occasionally
Tbh I rarely watch fishing vids as I find the mind numbing tedious tripe (exception of Mortimer and whitehouse but that’s not a fishing programme really) but have been pleasantly surprised with fishflux
I decided to take a punt on this to watch whilst recovering fro surgery …there is a great selection on there well worth a short term sum imo, and good quality
Years ago I used to buy every angling mag going and never read most of the repetitive crap….was just worried I’d miss out on some vital...
Agree with this….specialist rods are just that, rods built for a specialist application and manufacturers such as Harrison design a blank for that purpose. I may be wrong but I would imaging the TC rating is measured once they have the model designed and add this to the product description...
I believe there is anecdotal evidence that pineapple flavour deters them, not tried it myself. It’s a pain having to deal with them and I personally don’t believe using plastic/mesh/weed and other hard baits does much as delay the inevitable - they will still mess with your end tackle possibly...
