As Graham, don't know those rivers but where I fish I usually take a float rod and a feeder rod. Nearly always fish bread on the feeder or occasionally straight legered worms, float rod usually go for maggots, which are ok from now onwards as the Dace and Chublets clear off.

I'd always go breathable with seperate boots. Supatracks studs are very good to put in the boots if needed.

Watch a few videos and have a practice. Personally I don't get on with the holding the lead thing, so find what suits you best.

Braid hooklengths ae fairly effective against Spider Crabs when Sea fishing, who perform the same snipping trick, so should help against the Mittens.

I can't believe anyone uses the auto trip, you're asking for line problems especially when using braid. Don't see the point of on/ off anti reverse, either.

I guess those are older versions as it looks like the rings have ceramic inserts. On the new ones, the rings are actually lined if you look closely.

Hi Richard, Not ledgering, I mainly fishing quite jungley places and just moving around can become a chore with the light rachets of most pins.

The RS is a nice looking reel and works fine, apart from that ratchet! I bought one because I liked the idea of being able to tighten the ratchet up when moving between swims, Personally I find the rachet on most pins too weak, and I seem to spend an annoying amount of time reeling up loose line...

I much prefer the Bob James to the River Specialist for trotting due to the single handed operation of the ratchet lever. The RS rachet is very stiff.
