My spliced tip rods, I've got four of them. Perfect for a 4 x 4 Ultra Lignum stick float. 2.1lb Bayer to a 0.08 hooklength. Running it down the upper Trent is perfect for the size of the silvers in there. If the odd Chub does decide to open it's mouth and have a nibble, just enough power to...
After reading all the posts on this topic, I'd be interested to actually know what rod my friend has. It could be an early Carbotec. The handle looks the same as a Normark, it has a screw down reel fitting. Not sure about the tip ring, as I haven't had a hold of it. The action of it with a upper...
Wasn't Geoff Salisbury massively involved with all this Normark/Diamura/Carbotec rod building. My understanding was Diamura, for what ever reason, stopped supplying Normark with their blanks, Geoff then went off and started Carbotec, using the Diamura blank as almost a direct copy of the...
Richard, I'm just winging it at the moment. I've made 2 x 100g batches of boilies, giving me about 80 baits, enough for one or two sessions on the upper Trent. As I only bought a small amount of ingredients to start with, I don't have the luxury of making up a larger amount of my dry ingredients...
Second batch. This time rolled on a mates Gardner rolling table. Worked the mixture a bit too much, started off nice and round but ended up with barrels and a drier mix in the end. Not bad though, and good enough to use.
Made the sausages as we went along, rather than all in one go. Think we...
Interesting. I've had a photo taken off the internet (possibly off here) and used as part of an advert on FB marketplace. The thing is the rods and reels for sale aren't the same as in the picture.
I've crimped 25lb Amneisa with the Korda 06 crimps. As long as you crimp them properly (I didn't first time) they are quite secure, and as you say, very neat. The 06 crimps are a very snug fit.
Have you looked at the Gemini booms, Alan. Now they are very neat...
I bought a Daiwa Connoisseur 14' power float rod earlier this year. Teamed it up with a Daiwa 4012 TDR. Not had chance to use it yet, but they feel nice in my hands.
Here's a 100g test mix I've put together. Not rolled any yet as I'm waiting for nearer the season.
Pretty simple TBH, nothing too in depth to start with.
As it stands at the moment I'm just trying to not get too involved in buying loads of ingredients, just a fishmeal base mix, then add one...
I have a friend who worked in Exeter angling around the time Geoff Salisbury was the brains behind Normark rods. Geoff used to take him to matches all over the country. My friend has a Titan I believe, that Geoff gave him. A totally unbranded prototype that is unmistakably a Normark. I've seen...
