Fishing half way across in 12ft of water.
A barbel of around 8lb with another followed all the way in. Nearly into the net.
Only seen it once. Probably happens more than we realise.

I've actually not had any problem using 2lb Torrix on the Wye or LS but generally will be fishing near side.
And as you say wouldn't go far side with more than a 2 1/2oz filled feeder.

As I'm going to have to do a fair bit more lake fishing I'm looking at rods that will be ok for decent tench, but will handle 20lb plus carp if needed. Also may use for lower Severn Zander fishing, popping out 3 oz leads with small roach or bleak.
