Good luck with the Korum folding spoon. I’ve had two fail on me now and even contacted Korum about them but got nothing back from them. The plastic folding block is only glued to the bit with the thread on, and only by about half an inch. Both of mine failed there.
That’s the same as mine - single handle 3012. While I love a pin, there’s not a lots can’t do as well with a fixed spool and rod tip control - and I love a bit of long trotting, i just find the batting/winding back in of a pin just a bit much for me nowadays!
Over 80% of my fishing over the last 50 years has been trotting - love it - a 4lb+ chub on a light hook length on size 16 hook on a fast flowing Hampshire Avon - ticks almost all of my boxes. I’ve tried so many reels over that time (Fixed spool, centre pins, closed face, front drag, rear drag...
As the original poster, I’ve now just bought a drennan specialist compact 30l rucksack. About the same physical size as the TA compact rucksack - but so much more comfortable! The Korum blox box fits in the top, and I can get everything else in with room to spare. Let’s see how that works out!
I’ve been using both TDRs and Tournaments this last past season - all QD. I’ve also fished a few commercials as well since June and taken some good double figure carp. Now that I’ve got used to them, I’m not sure I’d go back to a conventional drag - a simple click up or down is much easier to...
The Cadence CL 10 is about as close to perfect as I have found. I’ve used one that I made myself about 15 years ago - but that’s seen better days now - the Cadence is really well built. https://www.cadencefishing.co.uk/product/cadence-cl10-specimen-bait-apron/
Jason - I bought one! It was called the Korum Blox Roving vest. To say it was rubbish was an understatement- I think I posted a review somewhere else. Good idea - executed poorly. I’m ex military and have worn lighter flak jackets!! It had a solid plastic former on the back and front sides- it...
I’m often out in the river trotting - and have worn a fly fishing waistcoat for years. If I’m just going trotting, then I’ll take a really small bag and the waistcoat.
I know that this has been a previous topic but I thought I’d revive it a little. I’ve spent ages looking for ideal luggage set up for me and have been disappointed and dismayed with the market - and spent too much money in the process! I travel light, and have miles of river available to rove -...
Having a real clear out as I really have too much tackle and need to refine my approach! (that means probably buying something else!)
The Preston Reels are listed on ebay.
As my fishing has now migrated to mostly chub and barbel, I am reluctantly selling my cherished Shimano Stella 2500FE to fund some more tackle. Its in brilliant condition, and has been meticulously looked after. It comes with the original box, literature, case, spool adjustment washers, and a...
Good question - i think water resistant - but i'll go and fill it up with water today and see if it leaks! The tassel end of the side adjusters I tucked away, so they didn't get in the way in use - but I had to retuck them a few times during the day. I just want to remove any dangly bits, so...
Used the Cadence CL10 today - 8 hour river session - 50/50 in the water and on the bank. Overall, really quite impressed. In fact it’s better than I thought it would be! (And I’m really fussy!). Replacing the zip puller with a dyneema cord was a really good idea. The pouch sides adjusters...
