Very sad news, John was a good guy. I met him at a couple of BFW fish ins and sat under his umbrella for several hours one day on the Royalty where he shared a lot of knowledge. Rest in peace John.

My Pb came from there in 2006 on one of the windiest wettest days I ever fished. Haven’t fished it since about 2008 but will always have happy memories. It was like clockwork, 45 mins after sunset the rod would go more often than not.

No surprise in the internet age but still very sad. As a kid I read the Mail and Times every week and they were part of the bug. Happy days indeed.

I used to go with my wife to Mottisfont Abbey in Hampshire. you can walk along the river Test there and in amongst the trout were roach that made me cry that no fishing was allowed. I fished the Test loads of times but never had a roach amongst the big trout and grayling

I like Terry’s books as well. Someone who is totally obsessed with catching the nicest (not always biggest) carp in the land. The way he thinks through the problem with a single minded focus on his target fish is on another level.
