I used to love pro gold but I find GR60 every bit worthy of replacing it. In fact I would say on abrasion resisitance and out and out strength it's quite a bit better.
I have found some braids are better than others when it comes to the albright. It's like some have a slippery coating that interferes with the braid locking together.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Do you have any experience of the ZF auto, Julian.
They do not miss a beat!
I think the current Supra will go on to be a classic for it's design - it's striking!
I think you are generalising with the way barbel feed based on your own experiences.
On the clearer waters of Southern England, you can see fish feeding, but you are not hooking fish. You can see how their behaviour changes too when you introduce line in to the water. It's quite an experience...
I think a barbel's ability to outwit some anglers varies based on many things, but they can be very cagey feeders.
The rest of your post I cannot disagree with, Richard.
There are so many items of equipment that do exactly the same as what as what the twig/wand tries to do.
Paul, given they no longer seem to be made, I now have three of what I consider to be the best small/medium sized river 3 piece barbel rods ever made. If ever you feel like having a dabble again, let me know and I'll send you one.
Haglofs Roc Spirit Jacket and Rab Latok Bib Trousers, both in Goretex Pro.
Have stood out for hours in torrential rain and remained bone dry. Jacket is getting on now - perhaps 10-12yrs old.
I have to say I don't really understand this animosity towards the Twig or Hamidi.
He and OMC are no different to any other commercial enterprise.
Some of what is sold in the name of catching fishing is pretty laughable sometimes, but such is it's prevelance I have to say I am just indifferent...
Baker used to make a Supermilk Gold didn't he?
Bit of an issue making baits more soluble as in my experience you affect the binding qualities. Some baiting experiments have been an absolute disaster with solubility - makes me chuckle now, but the memories are etched.
Some really interesting flavours there, Mark. Sooo many memories.
And they are good quality? Would be nice to have a mess about with some of those actually.
I have had a Berghaus Cornice for some years now, it doesn't get a lot of use now, but it's quite a few years old. You do notice how much thinner that jacket is compared to other goretex jackets but would imagine that might be down to it using thinner outer and inner fabrics.
Whilst there are...
Here is the thing with rod building I find. I have several rods from the Paul Boote/Graham Philips/Nicholas Whip stable and each of them are exceptional in what they have been marketed for - unparalleled I would say.
You could quite possibly go to any number of rod builders that just wouldn't...
