    A Trent surprise !!!!

Found it ! Truncated article from the editorial from ANGLING - June1963. Price: 2s 6d. Reproduced on RDAA forum a while ago. THE latter part of this article may seem to be fantastic. But it is fact, and several residents in River Way and Hurn Way, two miles west of Christchurch, will not forget...

    A Trent surprise !!!!

I seem to remember a story about one being hooked in the mill pond at Throop mill on the D stour in the early 1900s.

    Number of rods and reels

Funnily enough I tidied my garage last weekend having recently acquired a lock up to store my boat in and as part of that activity I bought a rod storage rack to store my rods in both with and without reels attached in necessary. Therefore I know exactly what I have and the list is as follows in...

    Losing your mojo?

I almost envy some of you guys. My fishing time is limited to two or three full weeks a season on the D Stour and the H Avon with the very occasional local trip for mini tench and crucians and a day or two each winter trying to catch the almost impossible pike in Esthwaite. I don’t ever lose my...

    Hook choice???

ESP Cryogen for me as well in all sizes. Switched to them when ESP replaced their original curve shanks with them.

    Tench 2022

Well done to all who posted. A very enjoyable close season read and makes me a little nostalgic. When I was a boy I spent a lot of seasons chasing tench on the Royal ponds around Richmond and Hampton court with the occasional foray into Hampshire. Have been living near Preston for over twenty...

    Memberships.

The same two as Dave C above for me. Been fishing them for over forty years now and usually catch something decent on my three or four week long trips per year. On the Avon syndicate in particular there are some huge barbel and chub although they are not easy.

    Combi rig knot.

Tied some up Saturday night and certainly working for the chub ( had six so far up to about 6lb ) but no barbs as yet. Still got six days to go so fingers crossed ! Using the swivel method as feel more confident than with the Albright.

    Combi rig knot.

Thanks gents, about to set off in the morning for my last week on the H Avon and am looking to incorporate it into my roving set up. Hope to be able to report a barb or two. As usual the anticipation of a full week on the river means I will probably struggle to sleep tonight ! Good luck to all...

    Combi rig knot.

Which knot do you guys use to connect the fluro to the braid on a combi rig or would I be better off using a micro swivel and my existing knots that I have confidence with to connect the two ?

    Recommended footwear

That’s them. Being a tackle tart I have mine in “real tree” camo !

    Recommended footwear

Muck boots for me, flexible, cool in summer and warm in winter. Not cheap but worth the expense.

    Photos of river scenes

There is occasionally a big chub or two on the right hand side.
