I've just placed an order for a new 11ft 1.75 Torrix with my local rod builder. Over the years I've had rods built or owned rods from all the top carp rod builders, Vic Gibson being my favourite as he used to do all the Yateley builds.
Anyway I had Duncan Smith from my local tackle shop build...
If it's a choice between and old shimano or an SS then it's a no brainer, gor for the Daiwa.
I love the old XT7 shimano's but they don't compare to original SS's.
Personally I think the 750 is too small but I suppose if your holding the rod then weight might come into consideration.
I have a...
All the old XT7 shimano baitrunners had the same size bodies.
The 3500-4000-4500 were superseded by 5010-6010-8010.
The 3500 had a smaller rotor and bail arm than the bigger two but the bodies are the same size. The biggest 4500/8010 had deeper spools but the sam diameter as the 4000/6010...
Cheers John, so lots of fish but none of the bigger Kennet Barbel?
I know they are few and far between, like my carp fishing over the past 25 years, it suits me, I want low stocked big fish venues, sadly a dieing thing in the carp world.
I don't want to know too much info, I like to work it...
Thanks for replying John 😉
I've looked into ot a bit more and seen that a small part of the AA bit is shared with RDAA and they then have miles of river either side of it.
Still tempted, a bit, as I remember it, from being up the lake years ago, being a really nice stretch but just not sure if...
Absolutely amazing.
I didn't reply to one thread, explained why and apologised 🤣🤣🤣🤣
So let me get this right.......
Since I joined I started some threads, sorry thought that was what a forum was for 🤣
Those threads have seen nearly 200 replies to them.
Without them this forum would have...
One thread I've started since you replied to this John, one , and I've explained why I didn't respond to you and even apologised yet you still come back all narky and try and tell me what to do.
It's a real shame as I've really enjoyed this forum since I joined, it's generally very friendly...
I'm a train driver, sometimes don't get time to look at phone at all, other times I'm on it all day. Sometimes I will quickly see something but not have a chance to reply, be that to a post on here or a WhatsApp or whatever.
So, I apologise if you thought me not responding was rude, it wasn't...
Thanks mate but I'm not a fan of the modern matt finish on those blanks and pretty much every blank available in today's world, I have to have gloss and it costs me an absolute fortune!
So I've been offered a ticket for the stretch of River Kennet at Burghfield, run by advanced angling.
Have already spoken to someone on here and appreciate your help but just throwing it out there to see if any else has/does fish it and what the general consensus on it is before I take the...
